View Full Version : So this happened yesterday :(

Happened in a 70km area on a round about. I had the right of way so went through and some d**k in a lowered black ute failed to give way.
So I slowed down a bit and hello this f**ker has a car trailer on the back of the ute. On with the brakes and boom. Not much damage to the trailer from what I could see, just some smashed pins as one ramp ended up dragging on the ground.
I pulled over and the people in the ute took off, c**ts.
Luckily I have full insurance, and luckily it looks like my projectors are still okay, but still Im so gutted and feeling pretty depressed tbh :(

Here's some pics

Yeah those guys are d**ks.
I'll wait and see what insurance people say about the car. Most likely will need a new bonnet as this one has spilt along the front lip and its cracked in that corner.

I gotta hand it to the guys who made these monster hoods, they're bloody strong!

Hope they do have damage to their trailer, Doubt they had insurance aswell... Losers

Oh gutted about the bonnet, Think your insurance would pay for new monster bonnet? You think the bonnet could be repaired?

What happen to the cannards?

Badger_01
09-11-2014, 09:02 AM
Yeah I hope theres some serious damage to it lol.

I reckon they would pay for a new one, but I hope it can be repaired cause then it can get painted haha.

I was just thinking about the canards today. Thank god I havent put them on it yet haha the passengers side on would've been absolutely destroyed.

Bender
09-11-2014, 09:20 AM
Lol would be funny if wasn't their trailer and got to pay for the damages. Or maybe karma will get him and he might smash up his ute next time

If you have to get other one and if it was from speedfactory, Could be bit of a wait, His shipment was meant to be in on Friday from what he was saying but would be great finally to have your bonnet painted

Wow that lucky, I'm always bit worry about mine and would hate lose any part of my super kit haha

Ouch, that's not good. People in the ute probably took off because they knew they were in the wrong, and didn't have insurance.

Hope it works out for you.

Car is currently at the panel beaters and shall be assessed in the next couple of days

14-11-2014, 04:48 AM
Well my day couldn't get anymore sh*t than what it is...

Stuffed up my ankle and got a couple of decent cuts at work and just been told that there's a possibility that the car could be written off..

Parts are up to 4k and theres quite a twist in the car so will need to be put on the chassis straightener machine, still no labour on it.

Cars only insured for $6500 so it isn't looking good.

F**k :(

Some people are just d***s. Hopefully the car ends up as good as it was before repairs

Bender
15-11-2014, 02:16 AM
Oh gutted, Hope they don't write it off,

Would you buy it back and move all good parts to other one or fit it yourself?

We have your twin in Tauranga(minus the bonnet and wheels) he had look at mine while I had good look at his when we went pass each other haha

Sigh 3hrs before the accident this pic was taken:

I think I might cry if the insurance company writes my car off :(

I would cry too! That looks amazing!

Oh, dam I'm sorry to see that. You may be able to negotiate with the insurance company to source your own parts as most parts through parts trader are way more expensive than you can get on trademe and from pick a part. How are the door gaps? Usually if the guard to front door gap hasn't changed then the rail will be intact. To me from the photos it looks more like (due to the stiffness of the bonnet) the bonnet hinges are bent, and the corner of the Rad support may have been shifted back, these aren't majors. That bonnet will likely be repaired by the looks of it. I really hope it works out for you! Was the roundabout near any shops that may have had security cameras? perhaps one caught the license plate. I'd speak with the insurance company, maybe you can pay for a bit of it to avoid it being written off. Also the panel shop, I'm sure there is some way to save it.

Well just got some news from the assessor guy. The pre accident value assessment bullsh*t has come back and the guy has said its not worth it to fix. So cars written off...

Fu*ck this has hit me pretty hard :(

Mate, that really sucks. Can you buy it back and re-shell it?

Badger_01
22-11-2014, 02:39 AM
I'll probably be buying the car back so I can strip it down and try sell off some parts. I could get it repaired but get it re registered and the process to get it done will cost too much. Plus then my insurance would be something crazy. Screw that haha

Bender
22-11-2014, 05:00 AM
If you do buy it back and want to sell the side skirts, Let me know :)

wintertidenz
23-11-2014, 05:15 AM
Find the asshole and take to his car, or give his details to the insurance so he's made liable.

Badger_01
23-11-2014, 05:54 AM
Yeah I've been hunting around but havent been able to find the guy

Badger_01
24-11-2014, 08:01 AM
Damnit.

I kinda want to fix the car now...

Means too much to me

Guess I'll see what price they give me to buy it back.

That's ****... You know the Deans Ave / Ric road round about? The other day I was in the right lane going straight, Someone in the left lane tried to turn right into Ric road... Just about took me out. I was so furious, I don't normally get road rage... Driving here seams to have gotten worse after the quakes, moved back about a year ago. I'm sure it never used to be this bad.

scott.mohekey
28-12-2014, 10:00 PM
A lot of people just don't seem to be aware that they have to share the road with others.

Update time.

Monster bonnet looks fu*king awesome painted :D

Should have the car back either Monday or Tuesday so I can start installing parts and get it all ready for the certification process.

So excited and can't wait haha

Fixed..... You mean induced ;-)

Unfortunately haha, but cause of camber laws and to get the certified the camber has to be pretty much within factory specs

Its up to the person doing the cert's discretion now I believe. A number of people have been through certs recently with low cars and quite a bit of camber. Have a talk to your cert guy and they will confirm.

Its for the repair certifier. Shane the panel beater said he wants me to try get the camber within factory specs to make things easier with the repair certifier.

Car needs a wheel alignment anyway so no biggie

Gly

the car doesn't have factory camber adjustment. or you planning on raising the car for the repair cert?
looks good btw

Thanks :) Im really stoked about the bonnet, looks sooooo good painted haha

Going to use your guide for the rear camber. Kinda want to take it for a wheel alignment to see how much it will be out, but then dont want to be paying for a wheel alignment twice.

Anyone know how to do a DIY wheel alignment?

Gly
21-01-2015, 07:12 AM
find some level ground, and use a plumb line should see you right,

as a guess 7mm worth of spacers is a good guess(starting point) based on pics of your car

So repair cert has been done, rear guards have been fixed and the car went for a lvv cert today. Didnt pass as there is a couple of things to do:

Gotta fit a support to the air intake system
Either raise the front a bit or roll/flare front guards as the tyres rub when you go over a dip
Cable tie one of the rear brake lines so they're not rubbing on the axle boot
Fix the exhaust leaks (cars been sitting for awhile so there are little rust holes)
Drivers window washer pops up so gotta fit it properly
Rear indicators glow white instead of orange
Align headlights

And they also mentioned something about my projector headlights which I'll find the info I need to prove they are fine.

So not much to do :)

Bender
27-05-2015, 08:00 AM
How much did the cert cost if you don't mind me asking

Badger_01
27-05-2015, 08:37 AM
$490

Quite cheap I reckon

Car finally went through the recompliance/re registering bit. And I now have more **** to sort out...

They found rust in the rear hatch lower seam edge, so to get that fixed results in me getting another repair cert for that repair.

They want me to sort out the AYC, told the guy its no longer there and he rattled off some bull****. Probs just going to remove the bulb tbh. Though if anyone knows how to completely get rid of it that would be a great help.

And they want me to sort out my traction control. As it has a hissy when its not turned off because of the manual conversion. Again if anyone knows how to get rid of it/have it permanently off that would be a great help.

Sigh and I need to have all this done within 21 working days or I have to pay another $475...

Badger_01
19-06-2015, 10:05 AM
So having a quick squiz through the forums, reflashing the ecu with a manual rom seems to help with the traction control?

Ughhh Im stressing out...

97legnum
20-06-2015, 01:52 PM
I can loan you a manual TB and manual ECU if that helps Reece. Try unplugging the switch for the tcl, it doesn't function nor show a light on mine when the switch is unplugged.

Badger_01
21-06-2015, 11:12 AM
Cheers for that Justin, but all seems to be okay now. Just removed some certain fuses and bulbs haha.

Now to find this rust to see how bad it is...

So close to the finish but I've finally run out of money haha.

Badger_01
04-07-2015, 04:10 AM
Woo so I took the car for the lvv cert recheck and it passed!!

Yusssssss!!

Now to get the rust fixed and once that is done, take it for the recomplience/re registering recheck and Im done :)
