Just to add that I have this set of dave seals fitted few days back and they fit properly and SEAL properly, you be surprised how huge difference is between old and new, old ones are simply hard as plastic. No boost leak anymore, thanks Dave.
It's worth to mention that this seals are the same in various mitsubishi models incl evo swinks may someone from mlr will need them.

obviously it would cheaper for evo engines due to only 4 injectors.if swinks wanted any kits.

I will ask on MLR as single sale etc., but not gonna post anything about GB, due to their weired rules regarding GB and so on.

i am not into group buys they are to difficult to organise much prefer to do it on an individual basis.
if you want to just link to this post from MLR that is OK, i can get more sets on an individual basis but it might take a bit longer.

I was told by Chris (fassi1) that he fitted new injector seals, but he also mentioned about 6th injector failure under very hot condition. If you can read his car FS thread you will find it at "bad bits" section.

every car apart from one car i have ever done a boost leak test on had leaking injector seals to one extent or another. so i am not surprised that people want to replace them at a good price.
i will see how long it takes to get some more sets. i had 12 sets to start with but i can get more.
it should not take to long if there is enough demand.

if give me a PM with you address i will let you know what the postage cost will be, or if there are a few people from the Netherlands that want the seals then i can send to one of you and then you can send the other sets on within the Netherlands.effectively split the cost of the international shipping.

Item location says China, but priced in. Au $. I'd be a little concerned about the quality at that price. I haven't had a set so could be fine.

Davezj
29-11-2014, 05:22 PM
As you say it could be china supplier just selling in AUS.
There was someone selling complete sets of Cooling pipes on cvr4 and they were about £200 for a complete set but you only need the top and bottom hoses out of the kit as all the other pipes can be replaced with normal straight small bore cooling system hose from any motor factors. Unless you want all the cooling system pipes to be colour coded, for some reason. So personally I will be getting some of the pipes I linked to at some point. To see what they are like quality wise.

no I have not done one yet. I was going to do it using a fuel rail and inlet manifold I spare in the shed but not got round to it as there did not seem to be much interest.
but if you can take pictures of the actual change on the car then that would be good.

How have you guys been removing the filter basket? It's tight in there and i don't want to damage anything

Davezj
18-01-2015, 02:46 PM
i removed my filter baskets by finding a screw which will bite into the inside of the filter basket ring on the intrance to the top of the injector, the screw only needs to bite on the ring so the screw does not need to go into the basket very far.
fit the screw into a vice and then screw the injector onto the screw, it can go on quite a way in without any worry i have screwed it by about 20mm without any issues. but you only need to screw it on until you get a good bite in the filter basket ring.
then wiggle the injector from side to side and the basket will come out.
it sound a rough way to do it but it works very well.

here is a video to show you the method. it is the first 1 min of the video that shows you how.

Do you have a spare 1 or 2 filter baskets, Dave?

I've got to replace an injector or two (after I'd already fitted all the new stuff!) - so whilst I could get away with using the almost new rubber bits, I'll be unable to remove the filter basket without damaging it!

no it is ok, the filter are not a major cost, it is the seals that cost the money.
i should be able to get my supplier to throw some in for free with next batch of seals i order.

Just thought i would point out that i have had these seals fitted for more than 2 1/2 years and they are still perfectly sealed on the injectors and never had a boost leak from the injectors since.
i am not saying they will last forever. but looking good so far.

Hi guys and girls,
i have just bought a new batch of 10 sets of seals and filters. so they are available to buy if you need them.

let me know by PM or reply to this post.
i have been away from the site for a few months but i am back again and you can now take advantage of my generosity.
just look on viamoto or from Mitsubishi direct, and try and price up a set of these seals.you will not get close to £18 delivered to UK.
for outside the UK it will be £17 plus postage.
i am happy to combine postage for anyone that wants multiple sets of seals and filters. if you want to do your own group buy.

If you want more sets than i have in stock then it might take a little while to get them in as i dont ever buy any more thean 10 sets at a time as i cant afford to tie up that much money in seals sitting on the shelf just in case someone else what to buy some. i am generous but not that generous.
so please take that into account when placing the order.

Hey Dave - I'm in for a set of these please as my plan is to increase my boost in the near future with the A'PEXi air and boost control units I have to fit, so it might make sense to re-seat the injectors at the same time

On my Cerbera I had the injectors flow tested at the same time - is it a good thing to do the same with the VR4?

Thanks! Alex

Just wondering if anyone took any pictures of how to install these? I've not removed the fuel rail on mine before so any tips welcome :)

Davezj
28-08-2021, 04:37 PM
The fuel rail has two ends, regulator on one end and a pipe connector on the other. Each have two screws and one oring. Just undo the screes and pull them off.
Remove injector electrical connectors.
Then the fuel rail itself is held on with 4 bolts with a plastic spacer under each bolt. Don't drop the plastic spacer.
Then just wiggle the fuel rail and it will pull up and off.
The injector might come with the fuel rail they might stay in the inlet manifold, but it does not matter.
The injectors just pull out of the fuel rail. Gentle wiggle side to side will do it.

Just my 2 pence, I removed fuel rail from about 20 different vr4 s and injectors always stay in fuel rail. Get yourself down on dyno day and with help of others it will be done in less than an hour.

Thanks Davezj - tips much appreciated and also thanks for sorting out the kits :) BTW I read through the whole thread yesterday and there's a good link to the YouTube video on removing the basket in the middle somewhere - not sure if it's worth adding that to the first post for easy reference if it's not already?

just thought i would point out that the VR4 injector does not have a removable pintle cap.

I also found this pretty good overview (https://www.mitsubishi-forums.com/threads/2000-galant-spark-plug-change-for-v6.46902/) of how to remove the plenum to get to the spark plugs and the fuel rail that it might be worth adding for a reference too - relevant text and photos added here for record

Okies , this is an Mitsubishi 6A13 SOCH 24v intake plenum frum a 1997 Mitsubishi Galant 6A13 2.5 . Mitsubishi 6A1 and 6G7 engines have the same SOCH 24v heads and intake manifolds and plenums. So this will be the same for the USA Mitsubishi 6G72 Galant.

In the first pic , the red circles are where screws that need be removed. the ones on the far end of the plenum are nuts and the rest are bolts. All with a 12MM socket. The arrow is pointing to a far off one. The red coloured bolt is on most models and is bolted to a brace bar on the secondary stabilizer . On the 6G73 and 6G72 it bolts to a bar that connects to the engine mount.

In the second pic , the light blue circles are where the throttle cable and body ground wire bolt onto (10MM bolts) . The dark blue circles are where there is an plenum support bracket bolts to the back of the intake plenum , also 12MM bolts. The red circles are for the 2 (12MM) bolts that secure the Exhaust gas bypass pipe frum the exhaust to the intake plenum. Standing in frunt the vehicle , on the left side the plenum will be a bracket with secondary air bypass valve , and other solenoids which will vary for american models but they can stay on the plenum , juss disconnect the wiring and vacuum hoses that leave the plenum completely and the cruise control vacuum actuator hose.

On the last pic the red circle , is on the opposite side of the plenum , . its a 12MM bolt for a plenum stabilizer bracket.

Usually i unbolt the throttle body frum the plenum , doing away with the hastle of undoing the coolant bypass hoses that goes to the throttle body on models that have them. Make sure not to loose the thin metal gasket that seals the EGG connector pipe when removing the bolts

Get yourself down on dyno day

That would be ideal however even though I'm normally in the UK but the car is in Southern Ireland so not that easy to move around - might need to be a road trip for when the next Dyno day is scheduled /bounce
