I needed a replacement radiator and after searching on here I found a link pointing towards a cheap replacement.

http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthread.php?70867-Radiator-%28-automatic-%29&highlight=radiator

Its just arrived and I'm abit worried!
The filler and top hose posiiton isnt in the same place and the core looks very thin. Ive not had a chance to check it against the car yet, but was wondering if anyone could shed any light.

Having had a good look at it, I think that is a USDM Galant radiator. AFAIK, they only had the 6G72 3.0 engine. The eBay ad says it is suitable for a 2.4 GDI (which the Americans didn't get, IIRC), from 1996 on. All UK/EUDM and JDM 8G radiators are interchangeable. Even the 1.8 GDI fits, albeit that it has a thinner core - probably similar to the picture. This is an example of the correct 2.4 GDI radiator - which fits the VR-4 as well: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/62869A-MITSUBISHI-GALANT-96-2-4-GDI-Auto-4G64-Radiator/300996068305?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%2 6asc%3D28111%26meid%3Da261695b86bc42218e41bcde6761 7e46%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D11472%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3 D10%26sd%3D300996114161

So the one I purchased from the link is incorrect?

Now looking at the diagram, it certainly looks that way. I just went by the title description originally. Although looking at the main description, it actually mentions USA too.

I've had a look on ASA, and the 2.4 GDI radiator is the same as the VR-4 radiator.

The core is very thin at 26mm, not sure but original rad it's thicker than this.

I didnt pay too much notice of the models as I figured it wasnt going to say Legnum Vr4 anyway. Looks like I'm going to see if I can get another one before xmas, I had this one flown in from Denmark as its our daily driver, hopefully they will accept a return and get the new one sent this week.

I think it looks very thin, is it even worth taking the risk and ordering another one?? I assumed that as I was buying one that was was personally recommended, I was going to be safe just ordering it!
Where else can I get one from?

Standard rad thickness is 26mm (One inch). I think the 1.8 GDI is 18/19mm (3/4 inch).

Well if standard thickness is 26mm then the ebay one shouldnt be an issue.

The core always looks quite thin when compared to the top and bottom tanks.

When I replaced mine I used camskill, decent price and some peace of mind that came from a company instead of some random....

Thats why I bought the one I did as it was recommended, not just some random!!

I'm not trying to be disrespectful, just saying it's better usually to buy from a recognised company.

Also you know from mine and others experience that as long as you buy the correct part, it works and is good quality.
