Alright all,

Just phoned around for my quotes today INSERT INTO post VALUES (21st July) being 33, no claims for ten years and in a fortunate postcode with a garage.

Norwich Union offered £1220 with a £720 excess.
Adrian Flux offered £979 with £400 excess

Then I tried Admiral after hearing other good stories on here. Wow, not only ver pleasant...but they offered £684.60 with £250 excess. Can't imagine I'll look much further. Providing the small print looks fine, I'll snap them up. Last year I was £1090 with Hi-Performance.

The guy said he'd hoped Admiral would be always cheapest for anyone here at any level of postcode and no-claims. And it was freephone....0800 600 800.

So cheers to you guys who mentioned Admiral on here. I feel like you've put £300 in my hand!

Last thing...I told all insurance quoters I was on Club VR4 so I kinda knew what I was aiming for, quote-wise, by looking at what other members had got. A few claimed to have included a little sweetener for being a member of an enthusiast's club. A blag, you think?

Cheers all.

i was speaking to a few insurance companies about that.. basically, what they were saying is......... no we dont offer discounts.. however, as an car enthusiast/club , you are more likley to look after your car.. but still.. no discounts for that either..

I got a quote from InsBro when I renewed my insurance last October but it was much more expensive than I was paying - £1200 initially, got it down to £980, best he could do.

I shopped around and found The Policy Shop (http://www.policyshop-insurance.co.uk/cgi-bin/PolicyShop.storefront) who specialise in imports INSERT INTO post VALUES (amongst other things) and bought their insurance at £533 with an additional £35 for Euro-wide breakdown cover - much more like it! :) Great service too.

There's a thread currently on Scoobynet here (http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/thread.asp?threadid=230118) that questions whether people are actually properly covered, or whether they are just biting off the hand of the first broker that offers them a cheap quote. It may be that they are not being quoted for the correct model of car, but are happy to accept a cheap quote a face value. Interesting thought, and would explain why some people seem to get insurance so much cheaper than others ....

Been there with Quote online
Twats quoted me for a normal Galant est like £500
I told them so many times it was a VR4 my mates took the pi$$ at work
Got the certificate didnt look at it very hard :nono: and 6 months later looked at it and then noticed it was wrong
Had a massive row with them on the phone
They then phoned me back saying it was there error
I guess they searched the tapes for proof
They agreed to insure me but would not renew me when due

Hi All,

Interesting about quotes varying because there's a mix up on actual model. I too find myself repeating VR-4, RalliArt, and so on over and over!

And when they say they're recording the call, I say 'Bloody Good Job Too!, 'cause in my experience it's under-trained staff that get things wrong...not me'.

That was actually all to do with other types of insurance, but the post from Nick VR4 shows it happens with cars too.

I must say, last year with Hi-Performance, they kept me waiting around four months with repeated cover notes till I got the actual AXA undersigned document...for my £1090, there was never much to read and none of it seemed quite real, if you know what I mean. Plus they repeatedly put it as a five door Legnum. I rang a few times, telling them it was the four door saloon. They kept saying as they were both pretty much the same, it didn't matter.

Hope the Admiral literature gives me more confidence when I study it.
