Hello to everyone and a big thanks for making this amazing site. I am a new owner of a slightly worse for wear 2001 Galant VR-4, so no doubt I will be milking this site over the coming weeks to get her back to her former glory. The car looks amazing from the outside & in. Unfortunately the underneath is a different story. Shes going up on a ramp sometime over the xmas period for some serious welding. It will all be worth it though to get another one of these beasts on the road. So thanks in advance for any help u can give and I look forward to getting involved in the site :elf:

Welcome to the club! Your car looks great -- what work needs to be done underneath the car?

Cheers she is a beaut to look at. Hard to believe theres so much rust underneath. I have both front subframe mounts, both rear inner arch seatbelt anchor points, o/s floor SB anchor point, o/s rear chassis suspension spring mount, a hole in boot floor & rear bumper clips all for welding, aswell as new front exhaust section. Above that the only fault seems to be the ABS light coming on intermittently.

have you checked the front suspension top mounting points, these are nomally one of the first places that start ti rust, the wing side on the top and the engine side part way down the inside face, these are work checking.
by the way have fun doing it it will be work while.

What do you mean by pacify? Just tried googling but got nothing back.

I'd guess that the meaning is to coat the steel in something that will corrode sacrificially. Zinc is common for that.

something like this will make sure that rust will not return, it effectively seals the grain in the metal structure

Cheers. I was looking at their website last night. Has anyone on here had any experience with them? What are they like on price, workmanship etc. Their STD code is Spalding, Lincolnshire so not a million miles from me if thats where their workshop is. Im considering sending my car to them for all the welding/painting as finding a ramp to use is becoming a bit of a pain in the arse.
