The meaning of the AYC bar

I maybe blind, but I have tried to find information about the meaning of the AYC bar/light.

What kind of input makes the car light up one, two or even all the bars?

More important, what does the car / AYC diffs, electronics do in the different states?

The AYC moves torque between the rear wheels. It does this to better control the direction that the car is travelling in, so it should help you corner better and help you keep going the right way in low grip situations. It looks at steering wheel position, throttle position, abs wheel sensors and g sensors. Go in to corners slowly and then bury the throttle.

As for the three bars, my understanding is a little more hazy. I think that the clutch system in the rear diff can effectively move torque at three different levels. The number of bars represents the clutch position or torque transfer level. The rear diff is the only diff affected by this.
I think I have seen an exploded diagram somewhere but I don't remember where at the moment.

That explains why the TPS error codes fall under AYC! I always wondered why that was.

I am sorry to bring this case back to life.

But my concern is WHAT the AYC are doing when eg. 1 AYC bar are lit, 2 bars and all 3 bars are lit.

If your eg drive with different airpressure in the rear tyres, you can often "trick" the system to light up 1 AYC bar when cornering "normally".

- But what happens when 1 bars are lit?

Is 1 bar showing only a "warning"?
2 bar means "AYC are trying to help you" and 3 bars are "Hell yes! - Where are having fun, make some room for crashing".

I can't really find any information about these warninglights.

The AYC bars are not warning lights :) They are just there for fun to show you how much pressure is applied to the clutchpacks. 1 AYC bar is min pressure, 3 bars is max pressure.
The pressure applied to the clutchpacks is not 3 different pressure levels, it should be a linear control, but the display bar is limited to 3 levels

I have posted that information on here before a couple of times. But it seems to get lost in the threads maybe it is about time we started to make articles and library threads again with the useful information on like this and the key word the crap out of it so anyone researching on AYC finds it.

I have just realised that one of the places was earlier in this thread.
I was looking for this a whole back to link to and I could not find it. Just show the info gets lost very quickly.

So, if I have a periodic faulty ABS speedsensor on one of my reartyres, causing the AYC to shortly react to the changes in wheelspeed, and engaging the cluthes and AYC with 1 bar, it will eventually "wear out"? the AYC diff?

Definitely

If the one green light is on then the pump keeps activating, so the pump starts to run constantly and as you say the clutch wears out and disintegrates and usually damages gearing and in a few cases ( mine included), will result in a hole in the diff case!.

Best thing to do is pull the AYC relay till you get the problem sorted, then the system is de activated.
