A few years ago a friend gave me a set of M3 Style mirrors for free. The mirrors were for a Peugeot 306/7 so obviously the supplied base plates were useless couldnt even bodge them to fit the VR-4.
What I did was remove the stock mirrors from the stock base plate then hack away at the stock base plate with a hacksaw. I then used some various bits of plastic etc and some screws to mount the M3 Style mirrors to the base plate. I then attached them to the car. They never looked pretty from up close but from a few metres away they didnt look so bad. Also, due to the huge gaps, you could hear the wind blowing through when on motorways etc. so not ideal.
When I got the Silver VR-4 I decided to swap the mirrors onto it but to do something with them first. So while the bumper was at the bodyshop being painted I asked the guys to sort them out. They cut back the stock base plate more and filled in all the gaps then smoothed of all of the gaps etc. I then had them sprayed in A71 Hamilton Silver. Total cost for this was £40.

Once I get back to the car and get a chance to get them fitted I will post up more pics.
