Anyone used one of these so you can display data and codes on your iPhone/pad? Do they work ok?

The VR4 is not obd2 compatible.

Nope, that's why we are limited to evoscan and why we have to short pins 1 & 4 to get fault codes.

What lead is needed with evoscan?

For just basic logging, then you *can* use a VAG-COM cable, however, you will get "flashy dash" when you stop.

So, you need an OpenPort cable, ideally.

I'm guessing I don't need the flash adaptor if I'm just logging, fault finding and bleeding my ayc? £180 on eBay, does that sound about right?

you should be able to get them cheaper than that.

direct from tactrix $169 USD (£111) plus shipping (import duty and Vat)
so it would probably end up at a little bit less than the £180 mark.

but if you just want to log data get a about £6 VAG com cable. i can't remember if you can activate the ayc solenoids with it though. it might work if pin 9 is clipped off, or is that to stop the flashy dash when cable is plugged in. i can test this for you tomorrow if you want. i have not used a Vagcom cable for about 6 years due to buying a openport 2.0 cable.

uk based delivery. £5

hong kong delivery £3.41

if it does activate the solenoids then it will save you £175 which can't be sniffed at.
i will report back tomorrow evening.

Ok so i have check the access with the vagcom cable.
pin1 and pin 4 shorted together(or pin 1 to chassis gnd it is the same thing), with pin 9 fitted and pin 9 removed i got the same result.

got access to EFI ECU log engine data.
got access to EFI actuators, fans, injectors, etc.

no access to AYC ecu
no access to AYC actuators

by the way i am reading pin 9 location from the front of the cable and it is nubered on the plastic. pin 9 is top left when viewing the cable from the pin side.
can anyone confirm this with there cable.
