Advice on a gear knob please!?

So, the manual gear knob on my v6 sport is looking tired. I purchased a nice momo gear knob but could not get it to fit however tight I did the grub screws it was still loose :(. So instead, I'm thinking of either restoring or trying to get the original gear knob re-upholstered. Can anyone recommend restoring products or somewhere I could get the gear knob restored? Thankyou!

I remember there was a small plug that sits in the gear knob. It basically takes the slack off from the original thread and keeps the knob from rattling. Not sure how readily available they are though. Might be worth looking for a Galant breaker and seeing if the knob has the threaded insert?
