Connection codes in workshop manual

Hoping someone can enlighten me... I've been browsing the workshop manuals trying to fix my speedo, with the help of evoscan I know now the ecu is receiving a signal as it knew my speed but the speedo still does nothing.

There's a flow chart in the manual and it lists of various connections to test but how do I k ow which one is which? Is it listed anywhere with a diagram or?

just chase the relevant wire between the ecu and gauges, check at every plug you hit.
when my speed stopped working/ went intermittent as hell, it was because the converter was on the fritz

Yeah I've already pulled the convertor out to eliminate that.

Where is the ecu? Passenger side of dash?

You would fing joint connector B in lower patrs of centre console, near gear lever mechanism, near o2 sensor connector, below a/t ecu. In this area most of harnesses split or joins.
