Bit of a wierd one...just wondering for those out there that have owned both. How does the engine noise compare from a vr4 to a v6? I love the sound of my v6 with the powrflow exhaust and I think I'd miss it if I upgraded to a vr4 and that v6 sound wasn't there...all though maybe the boost would help that.

Also...does the vr4 require specialist servicing? And if so how much roughly is it?

Thanking you

the VR4 is a V6. it is a quad cam V6 with two turbos on it. one turbo on the back 3 cylinders and one turbo on the front 3 cylinders. both turbos are the same size and operate in parallel not sequential.
so the VR4 will sound very similar to a non turbo V6 with a similar exhaust on it at idle, and under load i would expect it is quite similar as well, although on the V6 you do have 3 or 4 cats on it and VR4 only has one cat. so that might make a difference.

If you have a powerflow exhaust I presume it's loud? Most powerflow systems are. My exhaust is basically as loud as it can be as I have 2.5" down pipes going into a 3" system with no cats or resonators to a straight thru jap can.

It won't be until next weekend but I can get you a video of it, if that would help, unless you prefer a quiet sensible exhaust lol

The VR4 doesn't sound as good as the V6 in my opinion. The turbos smooth out the 6 cylinder burble. Having said that the speed off the line and the mid corner acceleration far outweigh the not as good noise!

The V6 sounds smooth and elegant.
The VR4 sounds like suppressed anger. More noise, more rough.
They differ a lot, even my wife can tell ...
