YPut the Fto in for an mot. It passed but I saw oil on the silver clip that secures the turbo together. Took a look at turbo today. No oil on the intake side. Got my finger in there to see if there was any play and it felt solid. Haven't had the downpipe a off. But this is the only spot on the outside of the turbo where there is oil. All the returns look good and clean. What would you guys suggest?
Thanks in advance.

are you sure it is not coming from the top of the turbo where the high pressure oil feed line goes in. it can leak there and not really show any oil. but if it does leak there then it will dip down to the bottom of the turbo where you see it.

Yea the top of the turbo looked dry. Couldn't see anything there.

did you get the heat shield off and get a torch in there?

the reason i ask, it is not normal for the turbo to leak from the V band, but from the oil feed top and oil return at bottom yes it is more comon.
the only way i find i can diagnose an oil leak is to clean the area completely and go for a dive until you start to see the oil leak again then you can tell where it is coming from.
my prefered way of cleaning anything oily is carb cleaner. just spray it on a oily cold turbo give it a rub with a rag and 30 second later it will be dry and oil free, then go for a drive.

Thankyou Dave. I will give that a go. The heat shield is off but it is very hard to see in the Fto engine bay. I will give the cleaner a go and get a mirror so I can see all around. Will let you know how I get on.
