Hi there. My name is Bobby and I live in Trinidad. I've been a member for a little while now and I must say that you all are a great group of people who really love the vr4's. You all are always willing to offer advice or help to other members. I've always loved the VR-4 galant and the opportunity recently presented itself for me to own one. I bought one in need of some tlc and missing a few body parts along with the exhaust. The body is straight just minor nicks here and there. But what got me was how easily is starts is like just 1/2 of a tumble and it fires up. The car pulls really nice and the engine is really quiet oh it's a manual. It's a VR-4 type v with hi vis dash and cold pack. Thanks to the guys here for sharing that information with me from viewing the chassis number.
My close future plans are to get the missing parts ( bonnet, both front fenders, front bumper, side skirts and the exhaust ) . As soon as I get them the car will be going to the garage to be painted over in the same pearl white ( I think ). After that is done I'll be going to change all fluids ( engine oil, gearbox oil, transfer case oil and the diff oil ). There is an oil leak at the rocker covers, I've been looking for the gasket for it but haven't had much luck finding it as yet..
Future plans for the car are basically brembo brake upgrade front and rear. I really liking the Evo x front brakes but the price is really high here. I'll also be looking into TEIN Coilovers with the EDFC kit for it.

Now for the few pics that I have so far.

Evo 5-9 Brembos will be a direct bolt on, Evo 10 require a bit more fiddling. IMO Brembo 5-9 with good discs and pads should be plenty! Anything more is only if you are racing on track or just want it to look huge!!

Thanks for the info Nick. I read the thread about the Evo x brembo upgrade and it doesn't seem to be that difficult to do, it looks like you have to widen the mountin holes on the calipers from 12mm to 14mm and then it will bolt up. Once I get a set at a reasonable price I'll buy it if not then Evo 5-9 it will be. When I'm home I'll visit the link you posted and see what they got for me

Thanks much
Update I ordered two (2) rocker cover gaskets from camskill price not that bad but shipping is a b***h.
More than the cost of both gaskets .

Got the gaskets in the mail yesterday. Hopefully over the weekend I'll get them put on. Thanks again Nick Mann.http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04/30/aea6d2d48083b05723591cca08470980.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04/30/ba220e76a3036299c975e873caea05e4.jpg

When I get time I'll take it to a key cutting place to get it cut. Then I'll see if the board with lock unlock buttons from the original key will fit into the replacement (folding key case)

Got the key cut and it's working perfectly, but it seems as tho the lock/unlock buttons and board won't line up properly. The buttons are to the side and not centered to line up with the knobs on the folding key case.

Could someone point me to where I would be able to find the indicator light for on the fenders. Just like the pic.http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/06/15/1947b306306364f0f2af5af30d10b94f.jpg
Not the bulbs but the whole thing.
Thanks in advance

They are standard fit?

Bobby~d

Now saw the reply and yes they are standard fit. They were never changed. I have a pair of clear ones but they are oval shaped. The ones on the pic is flat with the fender. One got damaged and water is getting in.

I think I have some in the garage. I may have thrown them away. If I have them I'll send them for the price of postage & a beer!

I'll really appreciate that Nick Mann just let me know the cost if you find them and I'll PayPal you the cost

Sorry, Bobby I completely forgot about this. I've just been through the garage and I can't find any standard ones. I know I had a small box with four in at one point, but I've either given them away or thrown them away. So I can't help this time either. Sorry again!

78775Bobby~d..... just looking at your posts really like how your doing things my Vr4 friend. The AFR Gauge is one of my next jobs before some safe tuning. I damaged a previous engine years ago by being a little foolish with a boost gauge so BIG lesson learnt there.
I have exactly the same colour vr4 but the wagon/estate and it is also a manual which i prefere.
I also have fitted Brembo brakes front and rear but did have a couple of problems in the installation of them.
Fronts needed a adaptor plate making as the bolt holes were nowhere near for bolting up and rears were easy in comparison as i only needed to remove part of the steel backing plates to make clearance for the larger discs set up everything else just bolted up same.

Hi Dave. Sorry to hear about the blown engine. I recently had my mechanic change timing belt, idler pully, tensioner pully, water pump, cam and crank shaft seals on mines. I’m doing my upgrades in phases and kinda reach half way there. First I sorted all the existing problems on the car, second I upgraded the brakes to the brembos with project mu pads. Thirdly I installed a stage 2 completion clutch. Then I took a looong break hahahahahaha. When I started back I installed both afr and boost gauges in the car with the guidance of my tuner, cause I wanted to start tuning it a little. That has worked out so far. After road tuning the car it feels completely different to how it was before, I won’t say it has more speed but I will say that the power/torque has definitely increased a fair bit. I’ve just bought a greddy profec ebc to be installed. Then early next year we are going to do over the original exhaust to 3” stainless steel, just ordering the parts for the exhaust build right now.

I really don’t want any headache later on. Which is why I’m doing things in a phased basis. It’s tempting to raise the boost, but from reading on here I know is better/safer to monitor afr readings which is why I installed the gauges and sensors first . The ebc and exhaust will be done the same time hopefully. But I sooooo want to install the ebc nowww and raise it a little. Just to see how the car will react/feel.[emoji848][emoji848][emoji848][emoji848]. But as I’ve learned in the past it is to better be safe than sorry hahahahahaha.
