VR-4 uses a reciculating dump valve as standard.
The reason for this is that the ECU has already measured the air entering the intake, and if you dump it to atmosphere the ECU fuel calculation becomes wrong.

You can still use a dump valve that dumps to atmosphere, but you have to ensure it is set stong enough not to open on idle, othrewise the car will stall.
With dump to atmosphere you will get a ritch condition when you dump air, but I havent heard of any adverse affects from this.

As to which one you need... its up to how much noise you want your dump valve to make really

the only thing with this type of dump valve is the fact that you spend time building up boost and then dump it out and then have to build it up , the only time this is of benifit is when you are running bigboost about 1.7 bar+ to stop it stalling the turbo when you shut the throttle . the only real use for these on the road that i have found is to make a noise that makes pedestrians jump out of their skin.

you already have one around the outlet of your intercooler... that way you can just plumb a new one in and block the recirc pipe.

IIRC forge motorsport do a dual piston DV (apparently it needs to be dual piston because of the MAF- not sure about this) for about £70

See my first reply in this thread. I assume you mean a DV that will plumb at least some of the air back into the system.
The only thing you get is a rich condition when you dump air... Nothing serious so long as your DV is strong enoug to stay closed at idle.

I'll try get you some pics. If you do a search, I seem to remember someone else had a couple of pics of the stock DV. Not sure how useful they will be though

If you want to find it, get under the car in the right front (looking front on to the car) you will see the exit of the intercooler and where it diverges. there is a plastic black round thing. its pretty easy to spot. its probably coverd in muck too.

If its noise you want, ask the manafacturer or the person who sells it how loud it is.
