Hi
I'm the owner of a 1997 Legnum estate and the car has been faultless up till now. Yesterday while my wife was driving the car lost all drive. No warning, no sticking gears or anything, all working fine and then nothing! I'm totally gutted as I really like the car. I've checked the auto gearbox fluid and it's nice and clean and doesn't smell of burning. I've read on the internet that it could be a problem with the input or output speed sensors, or more worryingly the torque convertor?

Can anyone shed any more light on the location of the speed sensors? Or hazard a guess on what the issue could be?

TIA.

John.

Does the dashboard show gears at all? If in D and revving does the speedo move?

Hi Nick,
Turns out the problem was a worn out torque converter. This was diagnosed and an exchange torque converter was fitted by Butlers of Forfar. 6-month warranty now expired and zero problems with the 'box. Weird thing is it gave no warning of impending doom it just went. That's always the risk with autos, even hard to kill bastards like the Legnum. :(

Cheers.
