I have a metal-cased ECU with four plugs but the connector is white.

Part number is MR459125.

I have tried putting it into ASA, but nothing comes up. I haven't applied any updates to my version of ASA, so it's possible it's off a facelift car, maybe the AYC ECU.

I have also searched the forum for the part number, to no avail.

Anyone else able to hazard a guess as to what it's for? Maybe someone whose ASA is more up to date than mine? Or is able to identify their VR-4 ECUs from a shoddy description?! :stars:

pictures would help, what shape is it.
rectangular and thinner than engine ecu could be a ABS/AYC ecu that lives on the left and side of the glove box in a VR4.
i have a couple in the shed i can check the number tomorrow.
but if you don't hear back give me a shout on here and i will do it.

It's about the same size as an engine ECU, I only realised it wasn't when I clocked the white connectors.

Case:

72870

Interior:

72872

the eco i have are MR409118 ABS/AYC/ASC ecu, 4 connectors like yours but in black.
mine were from a PFL ayc/asc/abs/tcl car so maybe the different number is a different variant of car no TCL option, or no AYC option.
i am not sure.

Amayama don't list that part and it appears that ASA doesn't know what it is.

It's not an AYC or ASC/TCL/AYC ECU... and not an airbag ECU either.
MR213293 - airbag
MR368566/MR553974 - AYC
MR409118/MN102703 - ASC/TCL/AYC

Could be a part from a different Mitsubishi?

Thread from the dead alert!

Rediscovered this ECU in the garage. I noticed this time though that the part number sticker was over the top of another sticker. So I peeled it back and there is another part number - MR405883.

I'll have a search around ASA later... :seeking:

any defining marks on the back? ill check both codes tomorrow when im at home.

Perhaps its a dealer option ecu, parking sensors or similar?

I put it next to a normal PFL auto (7201) ECU and you can see that the connections are identical, other than the colour.

It is wider but only marginally thinner, and it is not as deep.

It is definitely a mystery at present!

Possibly a N/A 2.0 auto Engine /Transmission combined ECU. I'm sure I've got a couple similar ones in my boxes of bits in the garage.
