I have been searching and trying to find out what kind of ecu i have in my 1997 auto preface lift legnum, i cant see anything that says the same numbers as what ive read about are mappable as in 7201 7202 etc.

was wondering if the code MR409118 on the ecu mean anythiny to anyone, also says X2T34471T 1Y21

if anyone can help shed some light on it id be grateful, im looking to map the car once i get a boost controller in it so.

Cheers

Hi David,

Chances are you've most likely got a 7201, the easiest way to check is to look at it. The Engine ECU is located behind the centre console down by where your left foot is behind the panels), there is a stack of them and the engine ECU sits on top.

If the ECU is metal with green connectors, it's a 7201.

If it's black plastic, it's either a H8/539, a 7202 or a 7203.

In all cases the ECU's are mappable, but only the black plastic ones can run ECU mods such as anti-lag.

May be worth checking out the Common tuning FAQ (http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthread.php?62831-Common-tuning-FAQ) btw, we're also having a tuning meet next month and I can tune it for you if you need :)

from the number you quoted have you been looking to he left of the glove box, if so i believe that ecu is the abs/ayc/tc/asc ecu.

Hi All,

I have been told by my tuner that my ecu cannot be flashed?? And to get one from a 2001 model fl. Mine is a plactic case and assumed good to flash with ecuflash however could not be done. He explained it was a rare change over ecu and best to change it. I saw the chip on the board and was told to find one ending in f or fa.

Any advise would be great.

Hi Nick,

Yes it is a H8/539 but also on chip HD645398F16. I have taken the car two two tuners first one said he could do it bit does not have any base maps he is into na lancer tuning and the other has done many vr4 and said he has had problems with cars with my particand chip. I was asked to find either a base map for the first tuner or a ecu with chip ending with f or fa.

i have think i have an H8 original auto box ecu rom. but i don't have any dedicated difinition files for it but you can try using the 7202F or 7203FA ot 7201 difinition file to see if they will work with the standard H8 ecu file.

if you want a copy of it let me know on this thread and put and Davezj in the post which will send me a message you want to infom me of something.

I have been recommended to another tuner who said he has capability of tuning all 4 different ecu and should not be a problem for him. Fingers crossed as it is a bit of a drive to get to him. Should be worth it in the end.

Thanks Dave will up date in a week after the flash but first have been recommended to install new fuel pump and 3 port solonoid to get the most out of the tune.
