laser detector

Hi
I have a question
Is the laser detector which can detect speed cameras or cops illegal to have in New Zealand?
If it is illegal, what is the penalty?

Radar and Laser detection is legal. I drive around with my V1 sitting in the windscreen and dont bother to take it down when the :-policema are sitting right next to me and I haven't had any trouble yet.

Now a Laser jammer... That may be a different story.

The police actually approve the use of them and help manufacturers in testing accuracy etc of different brands...
