Coolant question...

Hi guys. I checked my coolant level today and found it was below the lowest level determined by the white overflow tank. I popped the white cap off and had a look. I can just see the level of the coolant right at the bottom. I took off the radiator cap and the level is about 1cm below the top. This was all done on a completely cold engine by the way. My question is when it comes to topping up the coolant, is there any do's or don't's vr4 specific? I'm very un-car minded in a mechanical sense, I just enjoy driving it haha. Any guidance appreciated...

Just top it up in the tank should be fine it may not stay at max mine sits about an inch lower than the mark

The radiator should be filled to the top. Fill it until it overflows, then put the cap on. Next, fill the expansion tank to the Max mark.


Then - go for a good drive, and let it cool down again overnight.

Check the levels in the morning, and tell us what it's like in both the expansion bottle and the top of the radiator - and we can advise you from there.
