Hi all,

Following on from previous threads, I've now secured 2 more facelift (7202) ECUs that are suitable for every 8th gen (1996-2003) Galant VR-4 and Legnum (twin turbo, not the STR).

I can offer 3 different ROMs that offer the following features;

Stock ROM;

Raised stock boost and boost (fuel) cut
Adjust fuelling and timing
Remove speed limiter
Reduce enrichment on acceleration
Change rev-limiter
Adjust reduction in timing when knock detected
Change injector size (not known if working)
Kens 1.3 ROM (http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthread.php?59075-Kenneth-s-ECU-Mods-V1.03) offers all of the Stock ROM tuning, plus;

Launch Control - Limits engine RPM until car is moving more than 10 MPH on Autos or clutch is released on Manuals (requires switch fitting)
Anti-Lag - when in launch control, it ignites fuel before the turbos to spool them up (you know this as the exhaust popping noise)
No lift to shift (For manual cars, it lets you keep your foot flat on the floor when changing gears, adjusts engine RPM for next gear but keeps boost built up)
CEL on Knock (Check Engine light comes on if knock / detonation is detected, goes off when knock is gone)
Support to add switches to turn the above features on and off
Larger maps (greater control over fuelling and ignition timing)
Kens 2.0 ROM (http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthread.php?60947-Switched-maps-testers-wanted) offers all of the Stock ROM tuning, plus;

Switchable configurations aka maps (8 in total)
Each map has its own;
Fuelling
Timing
Injector size
Speed Limit
RPM Limit
Boost Control
Fuel Cut
CEL on Knock
Open Loop (fuel based purely on tables) or Closed Loop mode (fuel based on o2 sensor feedback whilst at idle or cruising)
Support for switches to select maps
Support for reading various values (speed, throttle position, etc etc) to select maps
And by utilising all of the above, I have implemented the following features (all of which can be tweaked) with version 2.0 of the ROM;

Valet mode (turned on by something like a key switch)
As little boost as possible (0.4-0.5 bar)
40 MPH speed limit
4000 RPM rev limiter
Sport mode (turned on by a latching push button switch)
First gear torque limiter
Anti-Lag and Launch Control
Overrun pops and bangs
High boost target of around 1.2-1.4 bar (depends on mods)
Permanently runs in open loop mode
Economy mode
Stock boost of 0.5-0.6 bar
Runs in closed loop as much as possible
Lower fuel enrichment when moving throttle
Here's a demo of the anti-lag and what performance gains could possibly be achieved (entirely depends on supporting mods and the health of your car);

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEXtceMpz4g

I'm looking for £200 each, either fitted and mapped (highly recommended), or posted out as-is with no changes to fuelling / timing / boost. Drop me a PM if interested :)

Ps. Additional hardware ie. switches to toggle maps are not supplied, I can however help install them if needed.

I hope so, the proceeds will be used to prepare a VR-4 for a charity rally event (will post up details up next week when some stuff is finalised) :)

Also Glenn I've missed you :kiss:

I'm not in a position to buy just yet unfortunately, but for £200, you'll supply and map the ECU? That's a bit of a billy bargain IMO.

Is there the possibility to get a switchable map for 95Ron for those times when you are stuck? is it literally a case of fitting a physical rocker switch to change the map or does it need EvoScan or similar?

Thanks

Stuart

foxdie - any interest to come down to Germany to have a tuning session here? No joke, Jason!

I can trade in a 7202 AT ECU as well and I am sure I can find one or two other people who might be interested as well.

Hi Stuart, yeah the price is fair, I don't do it to make big money, just to help other members and make some money to cover costs and for a couple of bottles of booze :)

Yep, a switchable map for 95 is definitely possible, however it'll involve a big mapping session because the cars are already tuned for 98+. Definitely possible though.

And yep, a rocker switch would be fine :)

Bah if I'd known about this sooner, I drove from England to Berlin a few months ago :D

Sadly I think I won't be able to do that, but I'll keep you in mind for when I come back around August / September next year :)

I was thinking to check for flights to Berlin over the weekend... I am sure we can agree on the cost for that! :)

I can see the additional one has sold but I would like to get next in line.

As you know my car isn't really dyno friendly, when if this happens, will you also be able to give my car a check over while mapping and be able to tell me if anything is about to implode?

Pugme if its a plastic cased one, its easy to reflash. If its a metal cased one, it can be modified but needs more effort anfd special software.

There is a plastic case H8 version of the ecu that can not be flashed without mmcFlash extra software that requires a USB dongle. This is the same dongle that is required flash the metal case 7201 ecu

Geraint if you own Grahams roanne red vr4 then your ecu has already been played with.

Jase, I've been meaning to arrange with you to sort out my ECU. It is a 7203, with some NJ meddling! It doesn't quite run right to my mind, so I was intending to simply flash a stock map on to it and run it like that for a while.

What would be easiest - drive to you? Or would it perhaps be easiest to chuck it in the post, given that it's just a standard map that I want for now?

Hi Humpty's Revenge,

Many thanks for the info. Would you know what was done with it please? Dont think he mentionned that when I bought it, certainly not that i remember. I just thought it was the Boost controller.

Cheers

Geraint

If you're just after a stock map, either / or is good, up to you if you can live without the car if you wanna post it :)
