It all looks very nice.

However from the pictures I can't see where the exhaust manifolds attach.

I think rear exhaust feed runs underneath the engine parallel to the downpipe. I think pictures show link pipes to the single turbo and the downpipe.

looks good bro, what size turbo are you using there?
and what WHP are you targeting..?

Correct FASSI1 it joins the rear underneath the car running parallel with the downpipe.

rajvr497 - turbo is a Masterpower R545 its capable of up to 600hp my goal is about 350-400rwhp. Current standard turbos made 292rwhp at 15psi on dynopack dyno. Changed to single as rear turbo failed twice with oil leak and getting them rebuilt was a waste of money :)

rwhp are you saying rear wheel horse power???
Or do you mean awhp at the wheel horse power???

you will make that power easy,
what injectors do you plan on using?
I made 362WHP on 18psi,stock in jectors but i ran water/meth.

Sorry Dave meant AWHP /pan

I have yellow top evo 4 510cc injectors that will be plenty I hope. Just sorting out injector plugs and resister pack to run with my ecu, put in the push fans to keep it cold and I can wind up the boost and get it tuned /woot2

Already at only 8psi feels almost fast as it was before but way different, boost doesn't drop off it keeps pushing all the way to redline.

Interesting that you make so much power on standard turbos.
Just thought I would ask what gear you do you power runs in is it 3rd or 4th.

I actually didnt think that was all that different to other VR4's this one is the second one that I have owned both made pretty much exactly the same power at the same boost levels etc with very similar mods.

All dyno runs done in 4th gear.

Hmm 4th gear.
That might explain it.

Back to back runs 3rd gear and 4th gear would con firm the difference.
If anyone would like to try it.

Strange I have used multiple dyno tuners even with my RX7 years ago, and all runs done in 4th gear by all of them so there must be a reason they do it in 4th.

I'm heading back within next few weeks once I have cooling fans and injectors done to get re-tuned ill get him to do a run in 3rd and 4th see what the difference is.

That would be an interesting test to do. And I would be very happy to see the result.

Confused

In most cars, 4th (in a 5 speed box) is closest to 1:1 ratio (ignoring final drive ratio, of course!), which is why it's usually used for dyno runs. Using 3rd will have a torque multiplication factor, such can skew results (and is one way that some unscrupulous dyno operators can get a better result [along with braking during the coast down to exaggerate drivetrain loss estimates])

Every dyno run I have actually witnessed has always been done in 3rd gear.
All of the area52 meets and as far as I know the eurospec ones as well.
What I will be Interested in is if there is a difference in power achieved in a 3rd gear run compared to a 4 the gear run.
I don't know why there would be, but I believe there will be, just through anecdotal evidence.

this was the results i got last time i was on the dyno with stock turbo setup.....

3RD gear - 264 WHP @ 289 TQ.

4TH gear - 259 WHP @ 312 TQ.

both 3rd and 4th gear runs was done the same day @ same amount or boost.

Interesting!

That is completely opposite result than I thought might happen.
I thought you might get more hp and less torque in 4th than you did In 3rd.
However you could quite easily get this difference in dyno results from one run to another in the same gear done one after the other.

I would still like to see an NZ dyno comparison from 3rd to 4th gear done one after the other.

Would be interested to pick your brain about where you got this set-up Fabricated as im looking at a similar route and am also in Wellington
