is it for a saloon and the mounting points should match up for my 1997? do you have an idea how much it would be to ship it to northern ireland?

Gearbox is a direct fit across all years both pre and post facelift. Some people have noted issues fitting later gearboxes to older cars even with the correct ECU. It's worth searching on here for the relevent info, just to be sure.

Yes, some gearboxes work very badly in the wrong car and some aren't right even with a matching ecu.

I would recommend checking your original gearbox part number and looking for a match.

There are also wiring differences in the loom between various boxes and ECU combinations, so for best compatibility, it is best to replace like for like.
