Hi :)

happy New Year!.

I was trying a few sites that give info on your car from the vin code, chassis number.

The format of my number is
EC5W-*******

(EC5W- then 7 numbers)

The sites I have tried say that they only accept 17 digit chassis numbers!.

I was under the impression that the numbers for gallants and legumes, 8G, were the same as mine, with the EC5W or other model main number, and then 7 digits. Is that correct?.

I am after the breakdown of the actual model and the options that it had from the factory.
any info appreciated.

cheers :)

The best resource for this is CAPS, or the replacement, ASA.

There'll be some links here on how to install it. I'll dig them out tomorrow when I'm not on my phone.

This will give you the exact specs of your VR-4 :)

An online alternative (with sightly less specific information) would be http://japancars.ru/index.php?route=catalog/mitsubishi or https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/mitsubishi

If it is a european spec galant parts search engine then it will be expecting the long european chassis number format.
CAPS and ASA come in a few different version. European version, USA version, and Jap version. you have to be using the the correct version that maches the chassis number type you want to search for.

Hi, thanks, I got some info from the amayama site basic info but good.
I tried to get caps to work a while back, but wasn't successful, I will wait for Gary's post and will give it another try.
will it matter that I am on a MacBook pro?, does it need to be PC based laptop to run caps?, cheers

To my knowledge it is a windows only program - but it will probably work well on parallels or something like that.

I run my copy on an xp virtual machine (XP Mode in win 7) - don't ask me how i got it working, i used some google translated russian instructions a year back and no luck finding them now.
Im no expert on the use of ASA but if you PM me your chassis no and a list of what you are most interested in finding out i can try and check for you. Otherwise have you checked the all car listing, you might get some way to understanding your cars stock configuration from that

Yes PC only. Mine runs on Windows 10 no probs. You can get a Windows emulator for a Mac though?
