Smokey and nosey VR4

G'day guys and girls!
Is there any out there able to help me out please??!!
On a cold start up the car will make a loud tapit nose
which somebody also told me could be the lifters.

Also on the cold start up the car will pour old blue smoke for a
minute or two while it's cold.

Has anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it.
Any suggestions would be great!

Mmmmm I know 97_legnum had the tappit noise, the outcome (which I don't know if its related or not) is now the motor (and we think trans) is blown up....

So the moral of the story is go get it check out immediately!

A couple of reasons could be:-
Low oil pressure, could explain tappet noise? Try giving the engine a good flush when doing an oil change and repeat. Sometime the lifters can get bunged up and a good flush will probably help.
Worn / Perished valve stem oil seals could be the smoke on start up? A fairly easy and

Take it to a garage you know and trust and get their opinion.
