Hi folks. In preparation for acquiring my first legnum, I've been thinking about what spare parts I'm likely to need.

I'd like to have (in time) a small stock of bits.
Aside from the normal things like filters, in an ideal world I like to have a spare tiptronic gearbox, ayc unit etc.

My main thought though is, How do you find availability of new items off the shelf?
For example, brakes, suspension items, radiators etc etc.
I'm thinking my local small independent parts place may have a few headaches in sourcing some parts or go by trial and error as to what they can get vs what fits.

It's easy enough when cars are being broken for.spares but pretty soon that'll come to an end and there'll be no more legnums left.

Also, I've run number plates on some legnums through the "MyCarCheck" mobile app, and they often come up with just the manufacturer (Mitsubishi) with no additional details to say the model, sometimes the engine size comes up but that's often it

For most service items and such, I'll use https://www.viamoto.co.uk/

For Brake components https://www.brakesint.co.uk/

Uprated Radiators and toy parts, Mainly come from ebay. A search on here will normally send you in the right direction.

Ebay.

Parts for UK Galant Saloon and Galant Estate fit. (but uk spec did not come 4x4)

Mitsy Evo parts drive train parts will fit. Evo AYC rear diff's, AYC Pump Evo 4 - 6.

If you upgrade to Evo Brembo , then all UK evo brakes and pads.

You can source most parts from different sources.
For specific parts, the mitsubishi dealer are not too bad for parts, but you may need to wait 4 weeks for parts from japan.

Amayama for factory parts from Japan.

Viamoto can source most parts.

a few parts are VR4 Specific, but still obtainable.

Parts also available from Poland and some German companies.

EBAY USA can supply some Mitsubishi Eclipse parts that also fit.

General servicing items are available from many auto factors, look for stockists of BluePrint parts.

As above - service items and wear and tear items are still easy to get.

A full gearbox is not necessarily so easy, but would still be possible I'm sure with enough funds and/or searching. Bear in mind that there are a few different iterations for the gearbox and whilst they are all physically interchangeable, they are different enough inside that you can end up with driveability compromises - some serious. Basically, get the right one!

I may have to source CV joints at some point.
Am.i alsonright in assuming Evo joints of the same year will work perfectly?

I get the impression that full shafts are becoming harder to find, however CV shafts can be re-manufactured for a price and we dont tend to snap them; just wear the joints. Id assume evo joints will be fine. The VR4 is a bit heavier and has more torque (generally) but also isnt being thrashed anything like as much.

ECU's are the most likely (very long term) item to sink the cars, but engine ecu can be replaced aftermarket, AYC can be deleted, transmission converted to manual and the balance could be made to work (ETACS) by conversion to relay controls for stuff. its all just fiddly.

Ultimately, when need arises most things will be convertible for something else, repairable or blue-printable. But these are the end days. Get one now while you can enjoy it without too much concern.
