My car currently has the wooden effect gear shifter and steering wheel, I have the black leather version for the gear shifter which I much prefer, are they straightforward to swap over? Found an old thread but it wont load unfortunately.

Yes. It has been a few years since I did it but from memory I think it is: Pop the button off upwards, there is a tag on each side which stops the spring pushing it out under normal operation. Remove what you can (spring and rubber collar maybe) and then use a deep socket (12mm?) to remove the nut without damaging the plastic push rod. Slide the lever up and off.

Refitting is the reverse of removal!

Sounds pretty straightforward

Worst bit is getting a flat blade screwdriver under the button and popping the button off.

And this is why: hooks on the sides.

Tackling it this coming weekend. I have the new Galant Sport interior and dash plastics going in along with the halo style headlights.

Hi,

Any chance you have not thrown that auto-gearbox-wood-stick part away? I would be interested in getting my hands on it. :)

Kindly,
