Hi i have a 1998 vr4 auto. I have a problem with the the ABS and TCL light being on they are not blinking but staying solid. I have done the flashy dash thing with a paper clip and all i get is the engine light flashing and the neutral light flashing so i dont know what that would be in the fault list because you cant really count them. also i have already replaced the vacuum canister on the firewall with a brand new one from mitsubishi so i know its not that. Has anyone had the same problem and can help?

So the abs and tcl lights don't flash when shorting pin 1 to 4?

No they dont flash just stay solid. The engine light flashes but doesnt that mean theres no fault codes?

Flashing steadily means no codes. Long and short pulses are flashing the tens and units of the codes.

So staying on solid is not something I recognise as normal!

switch ignition to ON and shout the pin 1 and 4.
just make sure you get the correct pins as per this thread.
the pin location are shown in the thread.
but remember the connector has sloping sides so make eure you get the orientation the correct way round.

update it been to auto electrician for week they couldn't find out what was wrong they tried asc computer among other things. After that took car to Mitsubishi dealer they couldn't diagnose it either so there getting an auto electrician in next week if they cant fix it i dont know what im supposed to do it will fail its next warrant of fitness with the abs light on. Would the mines ecu have anything to do with it, the ecu came out of a manual car which would not have tcl so could it be throwing the system off or something?

Got it back from Mitsubishi dealer they couldn't find the problem so i put in the old ecu nothing changed. Took it for a drive to see if the lights would go off they didn't. Now i have engine light and ayc bars flashing aswell as abs and tcl only good news is the paperclip code reading give more result than before i got 17 one long flash of engine light followed by 7 short flashes. Read the codes what is tcl h-switch?

No idea. Is it as simple as the plug on the back of the tcl switch has come away?
