Hi all

I have decided to convert my VR4 Auto to Manual. Can anyone point me to a baby guide on it.
I want to clear up a few queries before starting.

As far as I know its a preface lift know this because its a has non high visibility dash and the gear box part number. So I should not have any wiring issues correct?.
I have already changed my auto box once because I lost drive and never figured out if I fried the gearbox or the transfer case.
My current auto seems to be in a pretty good condition how do I store it. Drain the ATF or keep as is.

Transfer case came with the manual gearbox ( I thinks its the same for auto and manual ) are they?
the passenger side shaft that connects the transfer case and gearbox ( shorter on the manual) does anyone have a side by side picture of the two?
the passenger side axle ( shorter on the manual) does anyone have a side by side picture of the two?

I have the flywheel but I dont have the bolts. Can I use the bolts from the auto Torque convertor plate ? I read some where that there are 3 small metal pieces that go around bolts of the flywheel. What are those?

The manual gearbox came with the top mount but the black front and back plates are missing can the auto ones be used ? Picture attached for REF

Any recommendation on the clutch and pressure plate. Can I use a OEM Evo 8 clutch disk and VR4 flywheel and pressure plate.

Also do I need to buy a pilot bearing separately ?

I'm not sure I followed all your questions.
I think the non high vis dash was early facelifts. Post photos of your car and we will look. If you have traction control then this can cause small issues, but not major. You will need to bridge pins from the inhibitor switch to start the car.
The roll stop brackets I am not sure if you can use the auto ones.
As you are in Australia then talk to TME Steve about a clutch.
Flywheel bolts will depend on the clutch option you go for.
The transfer box is the same. The shaft from the transfer box to the drive shaft is 5 to 10mm shorter on the manual. The driveshaft is longer on the manual. They look the same, not sure why you want a photo?

Thanks Nick cleared up a lot of things. Do you know the thinkness of the adapter we need to add to fit the evo flywheel and clutch. I have noticed that the evo flywheel has very small Center hole compared to the vr4 one should that be a concern. I had bought the conversion stuff an year and wanted to check if I had every thing with me. From research I think I have everything expect for the clutch pedal which seems to be out of lancer.

I was connecting every thing outside of the car and was having trouble attaching the shifter cables to the gearbox don’t know how the locks lock the cables. A picture of the fitment will be help full.

Will be staring the conversion next week.

The center hole on the evo 7 flywheel seems to be smaller. should this be a concern?. Our cars don't have a pilot bearing correct?

Added a few photos for comparison of the evo clutch and an evo one. Basically we need To add an adapter to fill the slot at the back of the evo flywheel. Any leads on what’s the depth of the adapter. I actually from the ROW region and it’s really hard to get thing shipped here.

Is there a guide on how to replace the input shaft bearing on the manual gearbox (w5m51). I have read that it should be changed and is known failure point.

This relay was attached to the Auto gear selector. Do I need to attach it back to the cars harness ? The Old selector has 3 cables attached to to it. One to the gears selector switch the other 2 to the brake and steering. Do I have to remove all the 3?. What’s the purpose on the one going to the steering.

The conversion is almost done.

A few answers for future references

1) the relay on the auto shifter labelled (E8T101) was needed
2) the same autobox anti role brackets can be used
3) the inner half shaft in 3.7 min shorter in the manual
4) TCU box needs to be remove for Shifter cables

Still have 3 issues that concern me

1) I used the outer axle of the auto one which sits fine no oil leakage.
2) the clutch pedal is very soft not properly disengaging the clutch
3) the cars goes into reverse but the reverse switch doesn’t allow current
