When I got my new system fitted, the titanium backbox has a removeable baffle, which they advised to keep in for day to day use, and leave it out for track days, to release more power :evil2: I left it out from day one ;)

Well today I decided to stick the baffle in, see how it goes, and what the difference is in power and sound.

Feck me - I have just created brown trousers all round my neighbourhood  . The thing sounds like a friggin' jetfighter taking off, no word of a lie. Before it was fairly throaty and bassy, now it's slightly higher pitched - well it's very hard to descibe - wish I had a digi-cam with sound. Suffice to say, people were jumping in the air and spinning round to see what the hell would make such a sound. I don't think i've heard anything like it - maybe a big bike with a mad exhaust??

Funny :rolleyes4

Notice a significant drop in power then?

Sulli, do you notice the difference in performance with the baffle in place?

Looks lovely by the way. I mentioned your car at MIJ and they're going to install the same system on mine on the 22nd April. Can't wait!

The system is 2.5" straight through, same through the back box, but, as you can see here:

the baffle insert is around 1.5"-2" diameter. This means that the exhaust gases flow well through the full system, then is restricted a bit when it gets to the back box, hence the crazy sound.
the feel is much tighter than without the baffle, and I guess from thinking about how exhausts work, it may make it a little torquier - but I can't say i've noticed that.
The main thing i have noticed is when you get to around 4k rpm, there is a mad, sharp roaring sound up to the redline, which ****s the hell out of anyone within 400 yards. I think this is because of the big flow of the gas then getting squeezed through the stainless steel baffle, so it's a metally type sound (hard to describe really, and I can't really compare it to much, apart from a jet taking off).
As I haven't really tested the car (i.e. track or 1/4 mile, any difference will probably be coloured by my perception, suffice to say it is fast as fook whatever).
With the baffle in it is quieter at lower revs and tickover though - so more relaxing. Without, it's slightly deeper and a bit louder.
Does that help?
Kitefighter - good choice - you should pop by Cov on your way back - be good to see the car, maybe BernMc could showcase his motor too, and we could have a Cov mini-meet. As a guide, my car was in MIJ for just before 9am on the Saturady, and finished by 11.30.
