Anyone out here that owns or owed a 2.0L V6 EA4A and had the exhaust muffler control working on their car?

Maybe someone have, or know where to get, the wiring diagrams for an EA4A.

Would anyone know where to find some pictures of the vacuum lines running from the engine bay al the way towards the Left rear towards the Exhaust Muffler Control vacuum box. I do have ASA so I have a schematic of the lines but can't figure out the exact bolt on positions of the lines on the cars body.

The parts for the complete system are on the way but wondering how it is switched. Where the vacuum is taken from and what the Engine ECU on/off switching logic is.
Does the system also contains a "Sport / Tour" switch like the GTO/3000GT?

Cheers

There are a lot of wiring diagrams in the members area, but I can't see one for the EA4A. What market was it for?

Just had a quick search through the site and found this little gem from Kieran, many years ago:

The VR-M, model code EA4A is NOT a Japanese domestic market car. It was an East Asia market car, and was sold in china, sinapore, etc. It was their sporty Galant until MMC decided to ship the VR-4 to them too. It's equipped like a UK model V6-24, but has a hi-contrast dash and the 197hp 2.0 MIVEC V6, as used in the FTO.

The EC1A had the Exhaust Muffler Control as well so that might be an option to look at.

But for all these asian market cars it seems like it is very difficult to get the workshop manuals and wiring diagrams for.

The GTO/3000GT also have the option but that's an electrical operated system which has the option to switch the system from Tour to Sport

So in the mean time I am waiting for some parts to come in and I already have installed the vacuum line underneath the car.
I always was wondering why there was an empty space at those brake line clips but now I know.

All I can see in the members area is EA2, EA5 and EA6. Maybe someone else knows if there are more but I can't see any others.

Funny thing is that the body and clips are already prepped from factory to accept the Muffler control system. I can bolt the system right in. No mods needed besides wiring one connector (Vacuum control solenoid) and connect it to some of a control system. Not sure if I need the valve in the exhaust be regulated by RPM or just by a simple switch like alway open if switch is on or always closed if switch is off. If valve is always open it might effect the low rev torque hence I think there must be a sort of switch control by engine load or revs. Thats why I like to see the manual and/or wiring diagram.

So the parts have arrived and are ready to be installed.

I only had to make the bypass valve turning as it was fully stucked in the closed position. WD40 to the rescue. Little bit of Very High Temp Paint and it all looks decent again.

I have found some operational checks of the System in the VR-4 Manual and I have now translated a small bit of Chapter 15 for the system in PDF format. No idea how to post it here. I don't think I have any privilege to post the file. Happy to do it if only someone can tell me how.

I think you may be able to if you zip it first.

Keep us informed - I've never seen this system on a Galant.

Every Forum has it's own layout. Searched a little bit and hopefully found the attachment button. so here comes the short translation of the Chapter 15 regarding the Exhaust muffler control system. If someone have the wiring diagrams for this system (EA1A EC1A EA4A) much appriciated. I don't think it came on any other versions but the 3 mentioned. (only sedan cars no wagons)83042

As mentioned befor the Vacuum System bolts right in. No need for any sheet metal works. 2 nuts holds it in place on the standard bracket.

Not sure if I going to hear the sound of the exhaust inside as the whole car will be Sounddeadened as well.
