Hi folks.
I did a couple of searches for "locks" and "keys" but I couldn't get anything concrete

I've got 2x PFL's about 3 weeks apart in terms of build date.

The parts car has 2x keys where as my drivable car has only one key.

What issues will I be faced with if I want to swap the keys and locks over from the parts car to the driver?

No issues, as there is no chip in the key to worry about. Well, if you use the remote function of the original key, then you might need the receiver too. If you use the remote function on a separate alarm, e.g. Cobra, TOAD, etc., then that won't be affected.

Having said you might need the receiver for the remote key to work, you actually might not - I think any remote key can be reprogrammed to work with another car. I was certainly able to set up a new remote key (original Mitsubishi blank key from Amayama) with no issues.

Just incase - where is the receiver located?

Not 100% sure - I used to think it was with the ETACS unit, but I understand it may be somewhere near the middle of the dash. I would need to check ASA to be sure.

There is a pairing procedure which I keep meaning to add on here somewhere. It is actually for the facelift two-button key, but I believe it is the same process for the one-button key.

You need *a* key in the ignition, doesn't need to be the remote one, so you can actually try it first by using your existing key in the ignition, then when in pairing mode, you can press the button on the replacement remote to pair it, regardless of which key blade is presently in it!

Least that's what I understand. I was not able to test it as I only had a single plain key to begin with. But I did successfully pair the new remote before I'd got the key cut.

I'll look to get the info up asap. On nights this week, so will do it when I can! :)

The keyless receiver is located in the centre, roughly by the driver's left knee:

83230

PFL part number is MR238018, FL part is MR438843 (well, that was using chassis numbers from a 1996 PFL and a 2001 FL).

The process for pairing the remote on a facelift is as follows. I think it should be the same for PFL, although it only has one button that does both lock and unlock, compared to the FL's separate lock and unlock buttons:

Sit in the car and close all the doors
Short pins 1 and 4 on the diagnostic connector as if you were checking for fault codes with the flashy dash method
Starting this step within 10 seconds of shorting the pins, put a key in and switch the ignition ON and OFF three times (about a second for each move)
The car should lock and unlock the central locking at this point
Press the LOCK key three times on the remote you wish to pair
The car should lock and unlock the central locking if pairing successful
Repeat step 5 for additional fobs - up to four for later cars, may be limited to two for earlier cars
Switch ignition ON then OFF to confirm the pairing and complete the procedure
You should now be able to test your remote(s) to see if it/they function correctly
