AYC Error 82

Thought I'd share this - been helping a friend on his recently acquired VR-4, and the AYC wasn't working.

Pulled the fault codes via Flashy Dash (https://www.clubvr4.com/flashydash), which gave a single error code - 82 (8 long flashes, 2 short flashes)

Following the diagnostics in the workshop manual (https://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthread.php?65174-Jap-workshop-Manual-PDF-s) - 27 part 1.pdf - section 27-28, with the help of Google Translate pointing my phone's camera at the screen, it pointed me in the direction of the 60A fuse in the engine bay fuse box (which was OK, and had continuity), then to the AYC relay, which is located next to the battery in the engine bay, inside a rubber boot to protect it from water.

Upon inspection, the relay was a little bit... corroded on the underneath!!

I suspect this was unbolted, and left laying down near the battery, and water got onto it and pooled, as this is the only way I can think of how this corrosion was able to set in on this corner/edge.


Swapped it out with another relay, and the pump fired up into life, and error code now gone!

This was the only fault I had when first purchased mine almost 10 years ago. Nick M and Dave where kind enough to point me to this simple fix. Mine wasn't corroded at all but had pitted contacts, easy fix and has never missed a beat since then.
