... is it to remove the tyres from rims? How tight is the bead?

I have decided that I might start to refurb my spare set of wheels myself, rather than pay vast amounts to have it done, so I want to get the useless (illegal/nailed) tyres off them.

Also, how do I dispose of the tyres? Creep up to kwikfit in the dead of night and add them to their pile?

if they are low profiles you had better take them to a tyre fitter and ask them to take them off as they are tighter than a tight thing stuckon with extra strong glue , if you have the stanard 14/15 inchers you may be able to get them off but the same aplys .

Just about impossible without the bead breaker, go to a local tyre place they will take them off for around £5, only 2 min job with the right tools.

It's the standard 14s...

I take it then that it's significantly tighter bead than a mountain bike tyre?

Thinking about it more... I'm going to chuck the tyres anyway, so can I just let all the air out and then cut the bead?

Yes, It really would be so much quicker and easier just to nip 'em down to a tyre fiter and get them taken off. They'll dispose of the tyres too i should think
