What is the weight of the Legnum VR4's flywheel? And if I wanted to upgrade my fly wheel when I chuck the Evo8 clutch in what would be a good weight/performance flywheel to get that will still leave the car easily driveable.

And a second question for the boffins, why do people always specify flywheel specs as Mass(Kg or lbs) and not Rotational Inertia(Kg.m2 or I guess lb.ft2)

Also just to make sure, is an Evo 8 flywheel(performance or otherwise) gauranteed to fit in the vr4 without feking around?

And do I require any new gaskets etc for the clutch/flywheel replacement job. Or do I just need a clutch kit?

There was a post here a while back from a UK bunch offering lightened flywheels - do a search. Can't remember if they quoted weights.

Bump. Can someone maybe look this up in caps then compare the code with the evo range of flywheels?

Holy moley! I just found out our fly wheels are 8.17Kgs (18lbs). That seems pretty damn heavy.

Apparently part number wise we have the same flywheel as a CM5A gsr.

Also been told that 'you have a diff type of flywheel to the CP/CT evos (yours is a flexible type) ', whatever that means, can someone illuminate me?

Seem to have started a thread to talk to myself :)

the flywheel is 2 piece.

one part is like a flex plate that bolts to the crank.

the other is the the flywheel part that the clutch assembly is bolted too, and the ring gear is pressed on too.

The two parts bolt togeather

do a search for an fto workshop manual, it has a very similar flywheel design.

On a similar vein..does anyone know if a Evo 4 flywheel fits a VR4 type S - 1997? There's one for sale locally .
