NZ Herald (http://www.nzherald.co.nz/index.cfm?c_id=1&ObjectID=10122697) reports that the government has determined the emission testing is too expensive to implement (up to $60 extra per test).

However, they will be bringing in the 10 second visual smoke rule. So keep your engines tuned and serviced well to avoid this.

This is good news for those who have or are planning de-catting. However, the Greens may make it illegal to rmove them from existing cars. An Labour might just do that to keep them sweet.

PS: And the AA supports (http://www.nzherald.co.nz/index.cfm?c_id=1&ObjectID=10122790) the decision.
