I think we need a (members only) database of VR4s for sale - ideally record reg nos to track cars for sale e.g. the dodgy '96 one RED looked at with the wings hanging off the bulkhead and the '02 Derek & kieran checked out

it seems some cars are cropping up repeatedly on e-bay and autotrader

if this helps someone avoid a lemon / identify a minter it can only benefit the club

I know of one that we really need to keep an eye out for too. :embarasse There's a good chance it will appear again in the future, but very little chance of it being safe and sound. No prizes for guessing which one I'm talking about!

Could have a showroom type thing, with pics attached, and maybe a link with comments from members.

Why make it members only ?

Most of our members own a VR4, and surely some people will visit the site hoping to find VR4's for sale - the same as I would look on the MLR if I was after an Evo. Could lose some potential new owners ? /Hmmm

Maybe an alternative would be a VR4 ONLY For Sale/Wanted section (for cars/parts etc) and a seperate GENERAL For Sale/Wanted section for everything else ?

I think that this is a good idea. The MLR layout wrks well I think - Cars; Parts; Other. Split it into 3. No sure we have enough need of a group buy section yet!

Why make it members only ?

I think it would be wise - there will always be VR4s in our for sale section - however most people would start at Autotrader/Exchange & Mart and work their way towards more specialised sites such as this.

Bearing in mind threads of this nature in the past have gone on to discuss

Whether KTCs main business is actually cars?
Whether someone had a gun/drug stash in their glovebox
the personality/charisma of various salespeople

I know the site/committee aren't responsible for the comments and opinions of posters - but if someone wrote something I didn't like it would be the committee I'd complain to. It could lead to lots of unwanted work and administration on your parts if it was available for all to see!

You'd run the risk of traders bad mouthing competitiors cars - which isn't going to help anybody.

Additionally Pezza (BTW: Happy birthday mate) and I were able to compare the P/EX offers made to us by Adams for a VR4 - these types of discussion would start to appear on threads open to the public - possibly not wise? I don't know.

I'd be very guarded about what I said in public about a car on a traders forecourt - much as I am about what I write in the Kills section.

As alot of the above applies to me and what i said about Auto Couture in Leicester, i realise that comments made may not have been so wise and possibly unfair to the bloke running the place, i'd have to i agree with Brunty in principle. However, other people should be able to make their own decisions, and given the freedom to take another user/members information and more importantly opinions as they wish.

That said, more careful moderating could be the way forward. It's difficult, but you're never going to please everyone.

do a search on the autotrader site for vr4's and when the search critiera is how you want it, set it to alert you when it changes

There is a simple solution.........we simply post the advert details and then close the thread

Then any discussions or points people want to raise can be discussed in the members/committee forum, and if necessary the advert can then be deleted

That sounds fair, people can still express an opinion but it won't be directly attached to the original advert.

Would it be possible to do a for sale/want to buy section like pistonheads have though?
