No reason given why then ? I have heard of people using 105RON petrol and Scoobyscene are selling it aswell ?

No and I didnt ask as I was dying to pay for the car and get on the road :D
If you did use a Octane Booster and caused damage the warranty might be void :INSERT INTO post VALUES (
Some Boosters leave a residue and this can be detected if the garage decides to check

I used Millers Octane Plus in my Legacy RS-B and it was "suspected" of contaminating the Lambda sensor, but this could not be proved conclusively. TBH, it only increases the RON by around +1 INSERT INTO post VALUES (source: Millers website) so I don't see much use for it. I've been running 97RON SUL and 98RON Optimax exclusively now for over 4 years and 120k miles with no problem, including the odd bit of track time.

So we are pretty much agreed the "potential" gains are not really worth the risks ?

So back to thinking about NOS then is it :D

I was going to question the warranty issue with octane boosters.
They might be saying that just incase one of these boosters are the cause of any problems which consumers would have corrected under warranty, so to avoid them paying out they warn you not to use it to save them a few quid.. and I'm sure they are more than aware of every risk imaginable.

These octane boosters generaly have cleaning agents in them too plus other crap that may not be essential, but to water the product down.

Surely anything pure such as Methanol is really the best thing to use.....
Quick trips to Germany to get 105 octane fuel could work out rather expensive I'd guess? :D

I agree with you Brind. Methanol will not harm the engine or leave nasty deposits. In the USA INSERT INTO post VALUES (and elsewhere) Pure Methanol fuel is being considered a suitable environmentally safe candidate to replace petrol altogether. Emission is mainly water i believe.
