Ok i've been to most sites on the net, and read alot of reviews. But want to know what are the real downsides of a 97 Legnum vr4 manual.

From what i've heard, they eat more gas than an evo, are a bitch to work on and there turbo setup is dodge.

This was from mechanics. Ok, just how much gas do these things gussle, say without boostn, to a fun on night of spooling turbo.

I'm really keen on them, but need to have an idea on what i'm up against.
I need to know what to look out for and what questions to ask the owners.
From what know:
When was the last cam belts changed.
Has the clutch been changed.
Turbo timer, or cool it down.
And how often do you service it.

The car has done 110 000km so what normally needs to be done at this stage?

Sorry about all the Q's, but my escort was abused from previous owners and it cost me a fortune. Don't want to make that mistake again, espically when there are a couple of turbo's hanging of the beast.

Plz any help:

Cambelt, Sparkplugs, should have been done as part of a full "D" service at 80,000k
