View Full Version : Are there any Galant VR4's available with the steering wheel on the 'right' side? ~_^

Hi all,

Here's my first post :) hopefully not my last :)

I'm from the Europe mainlands, the Netherlands.

I'm a proud owner of a 1997 Mitsubishi Galant GLX, which is a 2.0 injection. I fell in love with it's looks. Next model will hopefully be the V6 2.5.

But after seeing all the jawdropping beauties here I think I'm going to safe up for a VR4.

But as you all know in the UK and parts of the old commonwealth, people drive on the wrong side of the road ;)

Finally my question: are there any VR4's with the steeringwheel on the left side?

Cheers.

I would not have thought so as we drive on the same side as the Japs, however I'm sure if you have the money there are companies that will reverse the dashboard and steering wheel for you.

One of my cousins who was born in this country left here to live in the states when he was about 18, he had one of those V8 Rovers 3.5 SDi's which was imported from here, that was right hand drive and he had it reversed.

My old man had one of them years ago ! Is your cousin's still going as you don't see many INSERT INTO post VALUES (if any) around nowadays

Don't think so, this was years ago.

The last car I see he had was an Audi A6.

My dad had one too but obviously it was kept right hand drive, apparently the engine was superb! and smooth as you like but the cars body work crumbled away leaving the engine to drop on the floor! :D

Having spent time in some more US-focused forums, I can tell you they dont actually import the VR4 officially to the USA & those they DO get are RHD examples from Japan.

The only exception to this is the old 4G63T VR4 from 1989-1993, which as I understand was mainly sold in the US in LHD form [limited to 1000 units in 1989 and 2000 in 1990 I think]

Japmetal - sorry mate but you missed the point, we were talking about the Rover SDi, not VR-4's.

But I can confirm you are right - the 8G VR4 is not imported into the USA :D

Steady.. no racial slurrs, I'll have to ban you! :nono: even if I do agree.:D ;)

Bottom line you can have them reversed for a price, otherwise just drive the car with the steering wheel on the wrong side, it makes driving a little harder for over taking and turning corners at juctions but you can get used to it.
