I'd be keen for the Sunday, I had to take a day off work for the Wellsford meet, and I'd like to avoid doing that twice in two months ;)

Would the plan be something along the lines of everyone meeting in Hamilton, then going on a cruise to Tauranga? That would be a nice drive, count me in!

You read my mind Pescha, I was thinking exactly the same thing, I have also voted for Sunday.

Come on guys lets make this one bigger than the last.

Ok by the looks it has been decided that the run is happening on Sunday the 26th June!

Ok here's the plan!

9.00am BP Bombay's (Truck Stop) leave time 9.30am.

10.00am Huntly (opposite the information building, lets try to stop traffic again!) lol, leave time 10.15am.

(depending on decided route to Hamilton) SH1 or back way thru mountain lol, it's a little more windy (depends if Huntly bridge is open though).

10.30 - 10.45am Shell Te Rapa (next to McDonalds) leave 11.15am

1ishpm Tauranga (stop to have lunch)

Then possible cruise over to Mount Maunganui

Then decided from there.....

See ya all there, be there or be square!

Some females may think that they will be left out that 'club runs' are for guys and that all that is discussed during car runs is 'car talk'.

When I first participated in a club run (with another car club) many moons ago, this is how it was, the guys wouldn't talk to the females, apparently we knew nothing and that the guys were always competing against each other, thinking they had the best car blah blah, and wouldn't listen to other peoples suggestions etc.... Well I changed all that when I became the secretary and treasurer for 6 to 7 years, which I organised everything from motorsport, membership fees/packs/renewals, club runs, agms and audits to name a few things.

I believe a car club atmosphere should be friendly, family orientated by that I mean, not just about Mum and Dads + the kids but, we are all here for one thing our love for the VR4, we should respect each other including members partners and friends, as if it wasn't for them we wouldn't be the people that we are today.

Please feel free to encourage your partners and friends along to our runs as my philosophy is the more the merrier. Some of you might disagree with this but I believe that our car club is not here to make problems with our so called 'better halves' but to include them and make them feel a part of our ever growing family and community.

OK I'm off the band wagon/soap box now lol....

:scholar: It's the teacher in me that comes out lol.... /yes I really don't want our club turning out like the last club I was affiliated with. Hence why it's good to be considerate to others all the way, and always maintaining a high standard of conduct at all times while participating in club runs, activities and events under the CLUBVR4 flag be it in the UK or NZ.

Plus involving everyone in decisions, it's not about the 'committee' its about the members of our club. We are all members, hence allowing all members to make the decisions for the club....

Have you thought about bringing it with us? I'm sure we can find a BBQ somewhere lol....

Anyhow, as you may know I wont' be attending this run either. It is my niece's last weekend in NZ before returning to Canada. I will leave Pescha in charge of this run.

Na, it's a Silver Non-Facelift Model. I like it though

I've just forked out to buy the car, so I probably won't want to spend the gas money doing the whole drive - which it'd love to, but I'll cruise to BP Bombay anyhow and atleast see what the VR-4 scene's like.

Hi dreamer, you will find that petrol wise it will be very economical because we are doing open road driving. Last run we went on I did over 400kms (as I live in Huntly) I think (which we were doing over 140kms at times (shhhh don't tell anyone :embarasse) I spent a whole $45, So I travelled from Huntly to Wellsford.... So if you budgeted $50.00 you would have heaps left over. From Huntly to Tauranga last time I went I spent $20 - $30.

Your call, but I'm coming up to Bombays to take the club thru Pukekawa as between Pokeno and Mercer all lanes are shut. So therefore all traffic will be diverted thru Maramarua/Te Kauwhata, so that road is just going to be diabolical...

So see ya Sunday (with my new bonnet, I'm getting really excited)!!!!!!!!

I still can't wait to see your bonnet!

It's on, but i don't have the water washers installed on the bonnet yet. When they installed it, hubby said we would install the water washes, but I was held up at my mother in laws trying to sort out her pc problems and by the time I got home it was too dark to install them grrrrr (things u do for the inlaws) As since its an EVO 5 bonnet we need to shape (sand them) the holes to fit the legnum ones. So I'm coming without them but bringing my squirt bottle lol....

The bonnet is awesome though, I couldn't be happier. I need to give the bonnet 2 coats of wax to take the haze coat off, as the haze coat is for extra protection for transit, even though it came completely wrapped. But since it's been raining down here I haven't even had chance to wash her let alone wax her.

Also the bonnet is completely carbon fibre not the cheap ones that put a top coat of carbon fibre onto a metal bonnet. It has alloy mesh vents, which match my door trims lol.....

Oh I'm hijacking my own thread.... lol....

Cya all tomorrow rain hail or shine!

sure it doesnt fit? my ones just needed a lil twist and fit sweet as, only thing was where to hang the tubing and sh!t

Why do most people pike out at the last minute, or just not show up?
ive got the people skills of def mute....

Yeah it was GREAT fun, especially from pukekohe to where we joined back up with SH1 (not sure where, not that far north of huntly) as well as up the Kaimai ranges. We were all using the whole left hand side of the road at full throttle the whole way going up, it was the most fun I've ever had in a car.

It was a bit of a slow cruise on the way back though, we got stuck behind lots of weekend holiday people coming back from tauranga and sat at about 80-90kph.

My car did about 416km's from the top of the Bombays all the way back to my house, which is very close to the top of the Bombays anyway.

One thing I noticed is that pretty much all of our cars were a little smokey at full throttle and when changing gears, I noticed it from Pescha, Ground Control, and the other guy in the Purple one that came the whole way with us (sorry, can't remember your name, but your plate was CFD424)

Pescha was fully whoreing out the club, she tried her hardest putting cards on a parked car at tauranga, as well as we all had a good chat with a guy and his girlfriend in a nice white Legnum when we were having lunch. I also had a bit of a chat to a guy in another white Legnum at a set of lights in Hamilton, he ended up following us for about 20km or so.

I've got pics too, Sam/Ground Control, pm me your email addy so I can send you my pics, if you'd like to host them.

Yep, good day was had :D

We had 5 cars do the whole tauranga trip, plus a couple of extras who met us at Bombay and Hamilton.

I did 429km from Bombay BP to Tauranga and back (plus 45km each way from Bombay to Balmoral = 519km all up).

Just loading some pics off my camera now, will upload some soon. /yes

Sam, I can send you my pics too, but I think you've got the best idea, any admin send me a pm with your email addy and I'll send you the pics, so they can be hosted on the site.

Something for a laugh, my mate with the black sedan, he was at the Drury BP until 9:25, then realised it was the Bombay one we were at, so he sped off down the motorway and got to Bombay about 5 minutes after we left. Then he went to Tauranga, and met up with a mate and went to the Mount. He saw all our cars parked up next to the beach, and went to get BK with his mate first. While they were eating they saw us all drive past.

About 5 minutes after you left my house Sam he turned up, and we've been talking cars in my garage until about 10pm ;) So there really was a 6th car that went the whole way to Tauranga. He's promised me he will be there at Pukekohe on the 17th :D

Hey Brad, I just wanna say a big thanks for the invite to your place for a bbq. Sorry Ken and I couldn't stop in, we left Huntly late, and need to get back home. It's pretty tought doing all the driving. Next time we go for a cruise maybe we could all make a day of it around a bbq with a driveway fill of VR4's as far as the eye can see.:chugchug:

I didn't take as many photos overall as Sam, but I've got some big ones of Pescha's bonnet, I'll send them to Sam tomorrow, I don't fancy sending that many photos on my 56k.

The BBQ ended up frying steak on a grill, it was too cold to go outside and fire up the BBQ, and all of us were fairly full anyway.

Because of where my house is, it's a great place to stop past if we are to go south again, its just off the motorway.

Well my part of the day was to really put my brake upgrade and new Goodyears to the test. The verduct is "Money well spent". I have never been a passenger in my own car before, and because you can only explain so much about the difference. I thought, why not give it over to Ken so he can feel it for himself. Great driving Ken.

Oh yeah, and blasting you guys with the water pistol out the moonroof was so good... :evil2:

So anyway, for those who didn't show up. You missed a great day. The looks we got from both other drivers and street padestrains was of awww. Not everyday you see a row of 5 VR4 Legnums passing you by.

Plus some of us have come up with some other ideas to make these events more pleasent for everyone, and we'll start another thread about ideas we have come up with. But for now I need sleep. Till next time my friends.

The funniest part was that guy in the low 6G Galant who asked me 'WTF is this a f.....ing wagon club or something?' We did get a reasonable amount of attention, it would have been better with a few more cars though ;)

About idea's and stuff, I think we did a good job of staying together and cruising as a pack, maybe we need to work on some official hand signals and light signals? Just a few for things like we need to stop, the last car has caught up, etc. I know I stuffed up badly once at the end of a passing lane, and I hit the brakes really hard, I think Sam or Guy was directly behind me, sorry about that!

Yep, the driving is one thing we need to get more clearer on there.
But also, there was yourself and Guy who only had yourself in the car, and the rest of us had some else with us. I think it would be a good idea for some of us to leave our cars at someone elses house, and buddy up with them for good company, and to compare each others cars to get feedback. Plus it would be good to have some help to chip in with gas to make it a bit easier for each other. 4 per car seems a good number to have.
Then on the next run you can swap for another memebers car. Myself, I have been in Kens car and he's driven and been in mine. I wouldn't mind riding in Kiwitt's car next because I wouldn't mind feeling how his cars rides.
The only thing we all have in common is the fact we drive VR4's, but each car is different ie Tires, Suspension, Brakes, Alloys and so on.

So anyway, I don't know what you guys think of that idea? Personally, I think it would be more pleasent and a great way to get to know our fellow memebers. Instead of only talking when we make pitstops. We do have some more ideas floating in the wings.

Sorry I missed it. average turnout seems to be about 4-5 cars, so anything more is a bonus for an event.

Hi mel - what upgrade did you perform on the brakes? Pads? Disks? Calipers? or 'the lot"? :inquisiti
Hiya Phil,

Well here's the story. I went into a high proformance brake company, and told him I wanted a full AP Calliper Upgrade, Rotors and Pads and whatever else will stop my car in a blink. Now this company supplied and fit Brembo, AP's and all racing brands themselves. But they only supply and fit new systems, no reconditioned or 2nd hand units. Which was fine with me because I didn't want reco's or 2nd hand installed.
The guy said that he can do the fronts for a few grand, I think it was 3 or 4 grand, and the rears for a bit more.

He said to me, he was more than happy to put everything I wanted on the car, but was I after the brand name, or did I just want the car to stop. I told him I didn't like the brakes and just wanted the car to stop.

He told me that using all the standard brake setup, he can get the car to stop just the same as AP and Brembos since I wasn't getting them because of Brand Names.

So he changed my Pads to Ferodo and flushed out the old brake fluid and replaced it with a High Proformace Fluid. He also gave me a written gaurentee that if I was not satisfied or was able to out drive the brakes, he would give me a full refund, and he would put my brake setup back to what it was... But the gaurentee was for the life of the pads, regardless of the mileage done or however long it took to wear them out.

So to answer your question... just pads and fluid...

Thought your brakes were great. I also reckon its a good idea to get the info available to other members.

How about starting a thread about it? (instead of hijacking this one)

Fuel Consumption:

I travelled exactly 421km on the Sunday, I used 48.21 litres of petrol, which is 11.45 litres per 100km, which I think is very good fuel economy, considering how we were driving at some stages.

I also emailed Sam my pics, hopefully he'll have them up soon

Best I have done is 10.52 liters per 100km over a whole tank of gas.

And I agree about the driving not being economical... it was like being on a rocking horse! Brake, accelerate, brake, accelerate and so on...

Still, some seem to be new to driving in groups... Which is cool, no one is born knowing everything.

Mal and I saw some things from the rearward postion which I will post up soon enough. Please don't take it as a personal criticisim of your driving, it is not.
