Hi all at the club!!

/help
I've just bought a 98 GLS, it's a non runner though. :rolleyes4 it's a bit messy but in one piece so i thought it'd be ideal to get modding straight away

I'm new to the JAP scene (after owning a Vauxhall) and basically after any tried and tested bits that anyone can reccomend and where the best places to go are?? (tuning, styling, etc etc..) As i'm new any info would be much appreciated!! :embarasse

Cheers for any help Guys

Welcome to the club!

Check out Scottish Ians car. I think I can safely say it is the most modded 2.0 Galant we know of!

Also click the link in my signature and come and meet us all. That should give you a few ideas.

Hello mate - as a former GLS owner, Nice to see you! What's up with your mighty GLS then? Can we help there? :inquisiti

Tuning bits aren't great for the GLS, you'll need to rely on 'Universal' bits for most of the early stuff, though like the V6-24, the GLS will respond well to a good air filter and exhaust setup... Just ask Scottish Ian! :scholar:

Anthony's links are a good start. Try also: www.needforspeed.co.uk

And welcome to Club VR-4!

Firstly thanks for all the help!

it's a silver "R" reg, got it from an import dealer trying to clear it from his lot, Some boy racer type had painted bits blue and put stickers all over the place, not a very nice sight!!!! :embarasse

There isn't anything majorly wrong with it, though it's got a mis-fire problem which is currently being looked at but any common problems spring to mind? it needs various lights, was too ashamed to leave the dulux painted items on!

My old GLS had a new coil pack in it's life before Kieran. Also, the HT leads (only to 2 of the four plugs) always struck me as a bit brittle. Other areas you may wish to check.... Throttle Potentiometer, and the Camshaft/Crank Sensors.

Hi Macca84, Got a 98 S GLS, bought it in september last year, so far had to replace:

Cam Sensor
Ticker Motor
Downpipe
Front ABS Sensors

if its not had a new downpipe it might be due to go, try and have a hunt around for 1 other than mitsubishi, cos £211 aint exactly peanuts for a bit of an exhaust.

Other than that, its 1 Amazing motor
