Hi Guys,

There are quite a few guys on the forum that aren't members, how can we get them to join??

A few Ideas I have to get them to join and maybe keep them...

I don't think they know what they're missing, how about telling them what they're missing, for example....

The new post on 400BHP Legnum shopping list would be a good attraction, but if you're not a member you wouldn't know it was there... Is there a way to give people sight of what they're missing without them getting their hands on the info (ie, being able to get into the members area, see the threads but not be able get to view the details)

Also, how about getting people to sign up to the forum for 2yrs at a discounted rate??? Say £30 for 2yrs or £20 for one??

Just a few thoughts....

Mike

:inquisiti i just signed on in my wife's user name to have a look at what can be seen.
i thought that "un-payed member's" could see that their is a member's area and see an index of sort's? but could not enter it unless they pay?

i dont think we would like non-member to see the titles of some posts - especially the ones we like to keep "in -house" eg - ive just crashed my car and need to call the insurers or that vr4 for sale could be dodgy type posts

i think a "top 10" teasers - hot posts or interesting topics in the members area might be enough to tease non members???

Yeh... Anything to get more members really, I hope more people post more ideas and hopefully we can get enough interest so they join....

Maybe some threads that say, if you took advantage of all of the group buys and special deals in the forum, you would save £xxx, also all of the manuals available for members, or how about giving them a '1 day or 1hr pass' so that they can see what they're missing (of course, stop them from downloading all the manuals...) :rolleyes4

The more ideas that are thrown around the better really!!! Maybe the membership would become cheaper or events could be part funded, or we could float on the stock market!!!! :rolleyes4 /yes /help

Totally understand your train of thought and I agree anything to encourage more members is most welcome.

Wherever possible we try and make an effort to leave a taster. Take the thread you mentioned about a 400hp VR4 - when I moved that to the members section it should have left the original title in the forum it was originally posted, but of course non members could not access it once I had moved it.

We have come a long way in just two years, and financially are sound. However we will always have a somewhat limited audience and in a way thats not such a bad thing (rareness of the cars we cover). One of my frustrations is not the fact that people don't understand the benefits of joining - it's simply the fact they are too bloody tight to pay for it ! /grr

One of the best methods is for other members to constantly encourage the benefits of joining to non members in their posts. Tell them what they are missing. I don't think a discount for 2 years will encourage any more members....if they are too tight to pay £20 then they won't part with £30 for sure.

Keep the ideas coming guys....the eBay one from Zentac was brill

have tried PM'ing peeps in the past, but no response. In hindsight that may have come over a little too "pushy". It does seem such a small anual fee for what is available, maybe too much is already available in non member status?
although I hear the point about giving people a taste of what can be had. I wonder if that old chestnut of limited postings may arise again. We don't want to appear meen, but is £20 really that much for full unlimited access.

As a committee member we could also add the Join URL to the bottom of our posts

can we get some more cards printed and also some leaflets to put into main dealers with a deal that we can put there name onto our site ( well ones that are any good i mean not just any old dealer) then any member who wants them can carry them around in their car. there was a few at the japfest asking but know one seemed to have any cards...... the japshow could be a good start for some handouts

Andy it's called "Hyperlink" you can do it using the second icon on the "reply page" or within your "edit signature tool's" it's the one that look's like a blue world :rolleyes4 , just open it by left clicking on it ,first box you add your word ie: here, or join... then click OK then you get a second box that you paste your link page in to and press OK on that and that's about it /yes

/help dead easy to do just harder for "ME" to explaine :rolleyes4... :inquisiti someone else will know all the proper word's N name's and may assist you better?

Good Luck :joker:

Hey guys, i'm one of the unregistered users you've been discussing, and until now i didn't realise that their was more forums to access. I'v been thinking about joining for a while, but never really saw the point, cause i haven't been to any events or anything, just using it for info for my own activities etc.

An idea i thought might be good, would be instead of the teaser type thing discussed so far, would be a sort of screen capture type tour, where you could highlight the features, without giving free reign?

As for the membership thing, as i'm in New Zealand, is there a finances person in NZ i can contact? as that would make life a lot easier. Also what does the fee go to? just site maintenence and events? or what?

Another thing, i see in the UK you've got affiliations with some discount parts groups and the like, is it the same for NZ, or is that still a work in progress.

Basically the main thing i would want to see, and would get me to finally get off my arse, would be a person in NZ whose contact details i can access, for advice and questions. Would that be possible, i'm sure there is someone, but i can't find out how to contact them directly??

If you could put them in contact with me that would be great, my email is, mpau009@ec.auckland.ac.nz

Cheers, hopefully i can join up soon.

That's the key isn't it..... You don't fully appreciate the roundedness untill you've driven one. :scholar:

I was hesitant about joining because I don't have a VR4, therefore the benefits do not apply to me, neither do many of the posts. I do however believe the size of the club reflects in the atmosphere on this forum, larger forums such as Honda Revolutions have different little groups of people (in my experience) like a high school disco and this has a very negative effect. I understand the committee members would like to increase the funds in the club for more events/publicity etc, but you can't have everything. If the club is financially sound, and there are more than a handful of active members i don't think there is much more you can ask.

I have however found that i can get a discount on oil which will almost repay my membership fee, thanks to Amsoil. Perhaps a few more discounts which are applicable to any vehicle, e.g. tyres, filters, wipers, alloys, exhausts etc would be a good incentive, but i know discounts are not easy to come by.

I didn't join for the discounts though, or for the content in the members section. I felt I had had my moneys worth already and that £20 wasn't a huge sum for continued banter on the forum. Also, sometime in the near future i would like to be a VR4 owner.

Keep up the good work

I was going to join last year but never got round to it, so really i missed out on loads, so now i've joined and it's made it really useful, as the vr4's aren't like your average ford escort, so you get most dealers doing the :inquisiti /Hmmm :rolleyes4 and sending you somewhere else.

So thanks vr4 club you've saved me alot of time!!!

I have been wanting to join for ages, but it seems like so much of a hassle so I am waiting for the join online. Any idea when that is going to be up and running?

How else do you suggest getting a payment from NZ to the UK ??? I guess if you don't have a paypal account it means an extra 5 minutes effort to set one up.......phew, knackering ! Then simply paypal the money and PM me your details !

Sorry for the sarcasm, but f**k me how hard is it really ?

You can use paypal? The Join Club VR-4 thing says you need to send a cheque, which is annoying in these days when no-one except companies use cheque books.

If you download the "Membership Application From" in that section it gives you all the paypal info. It's £7.50 for NZ members

Hi Guys,

There are quite a few guys on the forum that aren't members, how can we get them to join??

how about doing what the FTO owners club do - you can register on the site and post - but once you hit 20 posts you can no longer post until you join as a full member.

simple and effective, even though it can backfire - I paid up last week but cannot be transformed to a full member until the next full moon as the 1 person who does this is away - thats the only downfall.
