On consideration, I may well be coming, assuming all goes well tomorrow :rolleyes4

Let's hope you are right about the weather, Simon - it'd be nice to see Combe in sunshine for a change

Superb day at Combe yesterday - hot (relatively !) and dry which provided great grip and for me a sunburnt face (why didn't I put some sunscreen or a hat on earlier :embarasse )

Saw some fine classic cars on and off track - we particularly enjoyed:

- 2 Renault Gordini Turbos
- 2 Sunbeam Tigers (come on Nick F1 lets see some photos !)
- A 1950's (I think) Bristol (big one with the rear split screen) which was giving it some on track and tail sliding all the way

Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to photo or video the parade laps - there must have been over a hundred cars out on track /yes

A few memorable incidents were:

- Simon was outbreaked by a Sierra Cossie going into Camp (no pun intended :joker: ) and I said to my mate as we watched from the embankment - "Simon won't like that" and sure enough we could see in the distance Simon overtaking the Cossie on the rise to Quarry. Simon also had the last laugh because the guy in the Cossie a lap or two later span exiting Camp corner and did at least three 360 degree turns - the last one in the middle of the track, almost on the spot - he got a big cheer and a hand clap from the crowd :rolleyes4

- Graham was in my car on my second of three afternoon sessions (he particularly can't wait to get his big brakes after experiencing the mighty impressive KAD's) and I found myself taking an inside line coming into Camp corner thanks to a guy in a surprisingly quick and nimble (don't laugh /grr ) Triumph Dolomite Sprint. Not having entered Camp corner in this position (because it is stupid /yes ) I realised I was going to have a problem and probably crash /help So gave the new brakes a heavy dose to take off some speed and then powered around the rest of the corner and had to cope with the expected big snaky on the way out - managed to hold it despite putting the outside wheels onto the kerb/grass edge (at this point my passenger was very quiet /yes )

- Driving around the paddock area to join a track session - saw and heard a young boy (probably only 7 or 8 years old) jumping up and down screaching "Daddy Daddy a VR4, quick Daddy look a VR4" - bless his cotton socks

At the end of the Action Day - my work mate Chris was well impressed with VR4's and even Simon's driving :joker:

Thanks to Simon and Claire for their hospitality (needed that drink in the pub afterwards) and to Fergus, James, Graham and Chris for their company/entertainment and advice - cheers guys :2thumbsup

Here are just a few photies as I still haven't learnt how to edit, compress and post videos (got some good in car footage of all three sessions):

1. Would like one of these !
2. Base Camp (near Folly)
3. Simon tries to keep ahead of a Mark II escort
4. People will try advertising in all sorts of places !

it was a super day and it didnt rain
thanks to everybody for making it a memorable day. Great weather, great company, great atmosphere.

Big thanks to Heath for taking me out on a session - it made a change to be the passenger in another Legum - that goes sideways as well :drummer:

Have to admit it was a bit of a butt clenching moment - but I had faith in my driver.

The last session of the day was just excellent - having a whole track to ourselves - plenty of room to play and we did.

Hehehee..... It's a testament to how well set up the chassis was that you still see them trading punches with today's ninja-tuned Jap things... That and the fact that a YB lump will go in quite easily!! :evil2: Awesome cars....

Sorry to shatter your illusions of the escort - the caption on the photo was a joke :joker:

The escort had a roll cage and was well set up, but we were all easily lapping it

Sounds like another awesome day guys. Sorry I couldn't make this one, but was committed to the SW Motor Show with UJCC and finances are being kept a little tighter ready for you know where.

Good to hear you survived that close shave Heath and Graham

Would have been good to have 2 'KAD powered' VR4's on track, but "Banzai Boy" did a pretty good job prior to getting his new brakes  On the last session Graham overtook Me and Simon and we never saw him again /yes

What close shave - I drive too sensibly to have those :rolleyes4

Had 3 really good sessions and used 7/8th of a tank and I reckon 1/5th out of my new DS2500's :rolleyes4 :rolleyes4 :rolleyes4

Are you going somewhere nice on holiday then Pete ? :smug:
