Smelly Aircon...

A while ago i was driving in my car, and i swear i could smell urine - like someone had peed all over my car.. and it was going stale...

it went, and came back and slowly got better, might have been cos i was used to it though... however, while strolling around MLR today i found out somethign rather interesting..

Could this be the problem im experiencing? sure sounds like it!!

I don't have it mne no, but I have heard of air con smells before.
That guide seems fairly good so you could try what it suggests otherwise it will cost alot of money if something has gone wrong, and only specialists should touch them due the gas inside them.

Are sure you didn't pee all over the seats?;)

you might find with the hot weather it's continually recirculating - manually adjust it to take air from the outside rather than the cabin and it should get a bit better.

Calum, i did try that though, and yes it got a bit better, but not much to be honest.. think taking the air in from outside, jsut gives you a breath of fresh air INSERT INTO post VALUES (so-to-speak) but the pong will still be there.. :INSERT INTO post VALUES (

Could it of been stale cat pee. I have heard of this before, cats peeing down the vents lol... Happened to me before and to my mother in law.

BrainG, When using your A/C do you get a puddle under the car? If not check the drain is not blocked. The smell comes from mould and other fungi growing inside the evaparator and inside the vent tubes. You can buy a spray that helps this but it is best to take your car to a A/C expert who can service it properly. You will notice the difference straight away with better cooling and better de-fogging.:cool1:
Other than that wear a nappy so you don't pee on the seat again!!!!:biglaugh:
