7G 2.0 V6 twin turbo?

I think ? stangebat ? had 7g galant sports gt with this engine and 4wd - its the hatchback vr-4?

That's right, the 7G VR-4 is a 2.0 V6 TT - 6A12TT.

But karlodav is on about the Galant VR-G, not the VR-4. The VR-G is indeed a GDi unit, but It therefore must actually be an 8G Galant, as Mitsubishi never put the GDi engine in the 7G - It wasn't developed when the 7G series wasbeing built.

As for engine swaps..... Well, on the assumption that it's an 8G, then you can fit a 6A13 n/a from a Legnum ST. If you're feeling brave, and your car is one of the VR-Gs with 4WD, then you MIGHT be able to drop in a 6A13TT.... But, they're all going involve some 'fun' when you get it to fit, as the GDI ECU and wiring loom is rather odd. /grr

Yep Kieran, I did read he had a 7g vr-g/gdi engine but he asked about engine swap

I suggested an engine and asked if the engine I suggested was in the 7g sports gt (vr-4)

But thank you for pointing out that it must in fact be an 8g galant because of the gdi engine

D'oh! :inquisiti Sorry, misread your post - It's been a long weekend! :rolleyes4 Didn't mean to cause offence :embarasse

Mind you, the 6A12TT would probably not be the best choice - it's a good engine, but and again, I'm assuming it's an 8G shell here, the 6A12TT was mounted the opposite way round - so the flywheel would be on the wrong side for the gearbox. You'd have to rotate the engine through 180, and then get everything else to line up!! :inquisiti Now that really would be a 'fun' conversion!!! :rolleyes4 /grr /help

been there, done that, sold my baby (vr-4), moved to nz

Galant and VR-4 ownership NOT exclusive as in UK - returned to my first love, MR2 and considering other alternatives - now have the Sports GT

Not the powerhouse 8g vr-4 but prob without some of its inherent problems

And being so far away from tarmac heaven, I can manage with 'softer' alternatives

if it is the 7G, then a GTO 3ltr TT will fit with some persuation (Bulk head mainly).... it's the same engine (give or take) as the 7G VR4...

It will fit but because your car isn't the VR4, you would need transmission, 4 wheel drive system, AYC although you could sacrifice some of it... a lot of work when you can just buy a GTO, Supra or Skyline for about the same money as it would cost you to do the conversion and have it straight away.....

Up to you... good luck!!

Mike

We shoe-horned a Chev V8 into a... I'm guessing a 5g or 6g Galant sport about 10 years ago, wish I owned a digital camera back then.
Scariest car you'd ever want to drive.
