From the makers of TOTB

as part of next years event plans, we have been asked to get
involved with

the Isle of Man tourism Board to run a car weekend for performance
car club members to the Isle of Man.
200+ club members have already been made aware of this event, but
we are opening it up to all the same clubs and groups who competed in TOTB2, to bring together some fantastic cars and clubs.

basics of the trip would be a friday 18th June 2004 midday ferry
sailing to
the Island, for all the cars, followed by 2 nights B+B, with a
return home on the sunday night 20th june.

the first full day INSERT INTO post VALUES (Saturday) would be a free days drive for all,
around the
isle of man TT course, and the rest of the island. INSERT INTO post VALUES (remembering the island has NO speed limits once of out the 30mph villages!)

on the sunday we have the use of Jurby Airfield for a timed
sprint/top speed
day INSERT INTO post VALUES (optional at extra cost of £30 per car); or again a free day
driving the
island on its superb roads. the airfield day will be run with
classes/trophies and an award presentation in the hotel on the day.
returning home on the sunday evening.

:boing4:

the cost per person is likely to be around £180 all infor ferry and 3 *** hotel INSERT INTO post VALUES (b+b) for the weekend. this price is subject to slight variation, depending upon the hotel quality wanted, and also subject to getting enough people involved.

Information is fairly scetchy at the minute.. but who would be up for this? its on a first come first served basis, so you would have to plan this now :)

im up for it.,. sounds like a right old laugh..

Go on then, put me down at No 10 :) Planning that length of time ahead is not something I usually do because circumstances and commitments can change so much in that time but, assuming I've still got the beast then, I'll be there :D

I grew up on IOM and it is a great place. A couple of years ago the Porsche Club of Great Britain did one of these tours, I took the 911C4 and had an awesome time. Running the mountian section of the TT course on closed roads was totally fantastic. I actually got my passenger to close his eyes for the 'goose neck' one of the best chicanes on the planet!

Jurby race track is good too, it is the fastest circuit in the UK, down the main straight we were pulling nearly 160mph before the hairpin! Be warned though the track is never swept and you can expect to need a bonnet respray after the event due to serious gravel rash!

Just seen Japanese Performance Magazine are going to do two shows next year - a two day event and another Pod day in October - provisional dates are:

June 19th & 20th
October 10th

The trouble is the June one is the same weekend as the I-O-M trip :Cry1:

What's happening with this? Is it going to be JPM or IOM? Are there details of the JPM anywhere?

If we can get info, maybe we should read and vote. I would rather go where everyone else is going, or what's the point?

Spirit
27-11-2003, 12:04 AM
Still waiting for confirmation of IOM anyhow so it may not happen yet - JPM is a definate so far.

Another option thrown up by our events organiser is a club visit to the Nurburgring. It would probably work out not different in price to the IOM trip anyhow ? Lisa is talking to a friend of hers about it to get an idea of costs etc and maybe ChrisG and Richie can throw in some costs too as they have done this trip.

Brind
27-11-2003, 12:48 AM
I'm off to Germany in a couple of weeks, not too Nurburgring though.
Went on the Nurburgring years and years ago, the normal road outside of the track was having some maintenance work done so traffic got diverted onto the track.

Regarding the IOM, I'd much rather see this one!!! Japfest is good but IOM is pretty much a MUST SEE!!.

But again, Germany on the cards would be good.

What's happening with this? I am probably going to stay on the island the week prior to this for the TT. I looked at taking the car for the TT, leaving it there for the following week and bringing it back at the end of this weekend. I have tried all sorts of variations on ferry crossings, including just for this weekend, but can't get the price down below £200, just for the ferry?! Also, there is no late afternoon crossing back. The earliest you can arrive back in england is after 11:00 at night, so it would be a late night for those that have to be at work on monday!!

Any idea on when bookings need making by and which crossings will be used?

No costs, details etc have been confirmed mate - Barry was sorting this so need him to get on the case. The other idea being banded around if this did not go ahead was a visit to Nurburgring.
