Hi Barry
would it be possible to increase pic pixel size to 820 please? 620 is such an awkward size and most pics are usually 800 x something or 1750 so easy to reduce, Tried to upload a pic that was 624 and it wouldn`t let me grrrrrr its so frustrating! /help

problem is there are still a huge amount of people that view the site using 800/600, about 1/3 of all visitors :rolleyes4 . For them the site looks crap if we start putting in larger pics...

When i get home, ill check the stats again, see if more people have changed resolution.

Thats actually quite interesting Barry, my band site stats show that about 3/4s are 1024x768, about 1/6th are 800x600 closely followed by 1280x1024 and my mates site is similar. Does this mean car orientated people are not quite so computer techy as musicians and gig go-ers perhaps? Hahaha :evil2:
Anyway please bear it in mind

Thanks

Couldn't we have a poll on this. I'm 1024x768 & always have been.

/how can you tell what settings I have on my PC BTW???

On the FTO forum we actually resize the pics in the forum based on the size of the window people are viewing with (I think) so it doesn`t matter what size you upload you get a relevant size then if you click on the pic it opens a new window and gives you the full size one.... so you can upload huge ones if you want.

Webservers use matrix stats that monitor pc`s logged on to it, and tells which screen size used, which language, country of origin, which search engine used to find site or site referred from, words used on search engines , whether you use java and etc etc etc. Very useful for tuning your html code/tags to attract search engines and so forth.

PS: Yes a poll is a good idea .

ok, a compromise :)

Currently I am thumbnailing all pictures on the site to 400 width.
i will increase the upload limit size to 1024/768 and allow each pic to be between 1MB and 2MB. Once uploaded, the thread will show a 400 width thumbnail of your picture, then you will have to click the picture, and then it will open a new window and reveal the picture in its full glory...

hows about that?
