I got myself all organised, took my camera and everything...

... and discovered in the abbey car park that I'd left the sodding memory card at home. DOH!

Oh well, good day out... took a beating from the sun but nice to enjoy good company in the presence of good cars.

Brilliant day... especially derek's 'flame grilled' audience :evil2: /Hmmm /Steeringw

we had a bit of a gathering when I started my car up !! not that it's loud or anything !! :leer: mut have been aroung 50 or 60 folks watching & waiting for a pyrotechnic show !!
at first not a lot happened, so we put plan 'B' in to operation [ armed the NOS ] & we got flames !! :drummer: not much, similar to japshow. but then, whilst Mo was revving it, /Banana /JawDroppi 'POP' flames shot out of the back at least.????............... I'll not say, you'll think I'm exaggerating..... I'll let the audiance tell !! :evil2: :evil2:

I've uploaded mine, but called it sheffield.zip :(

TBH, I'm not wild about the gallery idea - it's just a set of pics - no story, and it's the stories that make them personal/interesting. I've probably spent about 5 mins looking at the gallery, whereas I've read the meet threads from top to bottom...

So, here are my pics, with some words! Feel free to delete them if they're wasting bandwidth though! Actually remembered the digital camera for a change!

The Abbey invasion
1. SGHOM - who spent the day making some ludicrous claims about 1/4mile times. I ask you.

2. Some other cars

3. Some of the peeps, including aforementioned teller of tall tales in the foreground

4. Gratuitous butt-shot

At the park:

The best defensive position is a circle, so we coral the cars against the Sheffield Massive:

(I've tried to get everyone's car, so no-one whines about it!)

More gratuitous butt-shots. Notice how the women and children are herded into the centre of the defensive circle for their protection:

Also some pics of the CVR4 members in this lot:

Some of the people:

1.Dereks offspring

2. An ex deck-builder & Co

3. Some dodgy used car dealer in the background :)

4. The Ginger one (who gets a  for helping me with my ATF leak) and The Long-Haired One (who gets the same for tyre pressure checks)

And just in case you thought we were the only ones there....

1 The Ford Massive

2 A purple Fuc-us

3 Derek plans another visit to his tame exhaust fitter

4 Aw diddums - it's so cute!!!

5 Howdy Ya'll!

And finally, you can't keep a good SGHOM down - his latest effort after a bit of NOS was squirted through it. The white bit is frozen condensation on the pipe. My camera wasn't fast enough to catch the stuff hissing out, but it was pretty impressive!

a most excellent day , a great turnout by everyone , i was great to meet some of the new members and some of the old ones as well , i must say i was very nice of jack (my son) to keep mike amused all day  . the derek BBQ got quite an audience as well , the funniest part of the day was when mo derek and myself went on a mickey taking mission over to the FFOC stand and then got asked to vote on their car of the show (very silly move on their part) so mo and myself went on the hunt for the most bog standard car on their stand and found a bum basic MK5 escort and voted for that , all those people that spent thousands on there turbo'd /supercharged /nitroused (and even all three in the case of one !!!!!!!!!!!!) must have been quite suprised when this escort got a load of votes . again many thanks to everyone who turned up and made this a very enjoyable day
P.S derek, jack still doesn't like you after making him cry , from now on you will now be known as "evil grey haired old man"

Thanks Derek for your advice, we got home safely. The gearbox sorted itself out but the engine still cuts out when you decellerate quickly under heavy breaking.

I will be the first to say that Derek's flames were about 3 to 4 feet long.

Also thanks in advance to Bern who is sorting my photos for me. Was a great day !!

on the way as we speak - they're in the format that Jan & Ian sent them to me, so already edited? If they're not what you want, I'll see what I can organise..

oops... all the originals (mine) are deleted after editing and resizing. I'll check the recycle bin and see if I can rescue them.

The ones I have from diddingtonwizard are very small - I'll email to see if they have the originals in a bigger format...

PS - didn't realise you could have a story with the pics in the gallery... cool.

Good day out - I ended up staying on much longer than I planned and really should have persuaded the marshals that I was part of the stand. At this rate people must be wondering if I actually have a VR4 /Hmmm

*parp

Everyone's cars looked great and the formation made the stand stick out against the rows of neatly presented cars. Added a few new faces to names - my apologies to those I didn't introduce myself to (especially Diddingtonwizard & Mrs whom I stood right next to, joked with but failed to do the polite thing and introduce my self - nice SuperVR4 though).

*toot

Sadly having seen Mo's car I now need to buy and install
a forward facing camera
a PA system
the 17" alloys off MLR

*ppppphhhhhhhhhtttttttt....ppphhhhhttttt.....pphhh ttt!
