Only had my Galant VR4 97' now for 3 weeks, but in the past week it's been making an unbelievable noise eminating from the front passenger side mainly. Sounds like a grinding noise of metal agains metal and louder when I take my foot off the gas. Once it has reached about 60-70 it makes more of a whining noise and thers a slight vibration through the steering wheel. Could it be the prop shaft? Gonna get it checked out but wondering if this has happened to anyone else. Oh and its an automatic by the way.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. /help

Breaking much the same. Doesn't improve or worsen. Will check the gearbox levels though.

Fluid in gearbox is fine.Possible wheel bearing. Guy at work said it could be a prop shaft bearing as the noise seems louder and grindier when the foots off the gas.

Found out it was the Transfer box. No oil in it.

That sounds bad. New oil and problem solved? Or am I being overly optimistic!?

Very bad. Transfer box is completely knackered and needs reconditioning. Spoke to the garage just today and he cant find the parts to recondition it.
New one will cost me £1600+Vat from Mitsi which I cant afford.
IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE WHO CAN HELP WHO HAS A TRANSFER BOX SPARE? ANY VR4'S OUT THERE FOR SPARES OR REPAIR?
ANY HELP WOULD BE MASSIVELY APPRECIATED.
