Hi all:INSERT INTO post VALUES (

I just dont know what to do next...
I told you someone hit my car INSERT INTO post VALUES (friday 18th july); well i still havn't got it back I thought I was going to get it back this friday "Gladwins of Kings Lynn" told me, they had done the repairs to the bodywork, and that the car was going today to a VR4 specialist to have the rest of the work done, so i told them i would go and inspect the car there, so that it wasnt all left to the Mrs to check, cause im a bit fussy and would be pissed of it she accepted it and i wasnt happy with it, so i went to Crightons in Peterborough to inspect it myself. They told me over the phone that they had to remove the front bumper to get it on the low loader, which i thought was a bit strange, and i am now begining to think it is damaged, but they did not mention anything else, like it still needed anything doing to it. When i saw it i felt sick. There was white paint all over the wheels and on the exhaust pipe. The exhaust pipe was also out of shape from being taken on and off low loaders. the rear door now sits slightly proud of the rear quarter so when they buffed the paint work they have worn the paint off the edge of the door and this bit is unbelivable, tried to cover it up with a tiny brush. There is also paint around the rubbers around the rear window, and they have also damaged the black foam sealant around the door...
When i phoned them they siad they still had to do a final inspection but i cant belive they would send a car out that still need more paint work doing to cover up where they have polished through on the door.....
Now i dont know what to do, or if i can trust them to put everything right. :Cry1:

Bloody hell!

I'm sure there are ways to get the situation sorted but the first thing I'd do would be to contact my insurance company, they should sort it out for you and may possibly send someone out to inspect the car.

If they haven't finished what on earth will it look like when they have finished.. did they let untrained circus chimps repair your car?

Yeah I would follow Brind's advice and call your insurance to advise them and get them to sort it out - damn crap service mate - just refuse to accept it and tell your insurance this aswell

:INSERT INTO post VALUES ( I really feel for you... reading your post brought back some bad memories of what happened to me when my Fiat was prangedINSERT INTO post VALUES (a very similar situation to the one you're now in)...

Brind is absolutely spot on - His advice is more or less what I had to do to get anywhere. Make sure you put in writing what the faults are, why they are unsatisfactory INSERT INTO post VALUES (safety, resale value, etc); and what you want doing to rectify the situation. Also make sure you copy in your insurer in any correspondance.

You simply *must not* accept the car back untill you're happy, as this effectively says that you've accepted the repairs are adequate INSERT INTO post VALUES (this is where I ran aground). And by this I mean refuse even to take the keys back from them if they deliver the car to you.

Wishing you luck.

I agree with Kieran, absolutely dont take that car back unless you are 100% satisfied with the result or you've got no chance of getting your desired result. These guys are obviously the worst kind of cowboys :gun2: Your beautiful VR deserves better than this ! Contact your insurance and explain the situation in no uncertain terms. Point out that its their responsibility to ensure you are satisfied with the result. After all, you pay them to look after your interests.

I'd be soooooo pissed off if it was my car!!!!!

The advice above is sound, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TAKE THE CAR BACK until you are satisfied with the work!!!!! If you do it could be deamed that you had accepted their standard of repair. Also, they could claim any defects happened after the car left their garage!

Also, tell your insurance company that you now require a curtesy car because any delay in you getting your car back will be due to the garage and not the accident. If you already have a curtesy car, tell your insurance company that the delay is costing THEM money in car rental.

Do take pictures and document up everything, including who you spoke to plus date and time.

Good luck.

hmm, no - ran out of money.. I need another £600 to get it sorted, i suppose I could have it back now. but there is no point really, cos i screwed the tyres.. I would rather not take the risk.. so once i have the 600 in ironed notes, i can get brembos and wheels sorted.. then cars back with me.. but i cant afford that for atleast another month..

:scared1:

but im working on plan "L" the one after plan K, which failed :thumb2:

I'll also agree with DO NOT ACCEPT IT BACK until you're happy with it, but also add a little xtra;

Altho you're obviously not happy with the standard of work, try to be nice [but forceful] about gettin it sorted - Show you're an enthusiast, this car is your pride and joy, etc etc; DONT get too upset and get stroppy with staff [at any level, if you can help it] because 'screamers' never get the same kind of service as the 'nice guys' because all they really want to do with a screamer is get you off their back.

Much better to be nice about it [obviously if you can help it - if everyone there are unreasonable tw**s this may not work] maybe wait a little longer than absolutely neccesary and have the job done spot on ;)

I worked for a bodyshop for years, and this is definately the best way to get anyone who has anything to do with your job on your side :)

Hi All
Thankyou for all your advice. I phoned the insurance company today, and managed to speak to 1 of there assessors who was very helpful and agreed with everything i said, he advised me to let them finish the work and if i was not satisfied with it, when they say they are finished, he or1 of his collegues would come and meet me at the garage as soon as possible....

this is a bit hard to see, but it is the edge of the door where the rubbed meets the body and they have destroyed it with a sander i think!

Owen, sorry to hear about your problems mate. Hope they sort it out ok. You have to be 110% happy with the work as it is your pride and joy.

I reminds me of my Legnum when a low-life emptied a can of thinners over it. I've only had it back a few weeks, but I've noticed a few things I'm not happy with:

The drivers side wing is not in line with the bonnet anymore, there is a small overspray on the door rubber, and I noticed the edge of the drivers wing is thin on paint in one small area.

This things are only small and it took me a while to spot these, but when your car is near immaculate beforehand you expect it to be the same when you get it back.

Anyway..:D :D
